Handles complaints and investigates issues dealing with suspected Medicaid fraud by providers and possible neglect or abuse of residents of long term care facilities in Ohio. Will prosecute if criminal action is found. Complaints addressed include, but not limited to, suspected Medicaid fraud by providers (billing for services not performed, over billing, kickbacks etc.) and possible neglect or abuse of residents of a long term care facility (such as nursing homes, group homes, MR/DD facilities, and hospital long term care units). Does not represent the person making the complaint as a private attorney would.
Advocates for people receiving nursing home care, assisted living care and home care services. Investigates and attempts to resolve all types of complaints about care and services. In some cases, may mediate disputes between patients and their health care service provider. Provides information on long-term care options, laws, and regulations.
