Services | Scope Senior Services

Provide senior adults with daily recreational activities, educational events, lunch, socialization, and fitness programs. Supportive services division for Trumbull’s retired and elderly population provides social work and counseling, prescription assistance and Medicaid/Medicare counsel, emergency assistance program, and free income tax assistance through AARP during the months of February through April each year. Operate six senior centers: Cortland: 153 Grove St. Cortland, OH 44410; Hartville: 1244 Lauren Crest St. SE Hartville, OH 44632; Howland: 8273 High St. Warren, OH 44484; Newton Falls: 612 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH; Niles: 14 East StateSt. Niles, OH 44446; Warren: 375 N. Resource Guide For Older Adults/supportive Housing | Western Reserve Area Agency On Aging

Provides a directory of services for older adults called "Resource Guide for Older Adults and their Families". Information in the guide includes how to resolve consumer issues, applying for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, contacting mental health and crisis services, housing options for older adults, engaging legal and financial services, planning for long-term care, lifelong learning programs and more. Can also provide individual brochures and information on organizations that deal with specific aspects and health conditions of aging.

University Center On Aging And Health | Case Western Reserve University

Provides a University-wide, interdisciplinary Center that offers numerous continuing education opportunities focusing on aging and health issues for professionals and the public. Programming includes workshops, conferences, and seminars throughout the year. All provide professional CEU's to health and social work practitioners. Also offers a graduate level certificate in Gerontology. The Center also participates collaboratively in Research efforts about Aging and Health with other University Departments/Schools. Also offers a certificate program in Gerontology.

Provides information and referral of social services and benefits information to older adults. Will provide assessments in the home for residents when needed. Offers counseling to help seniors cope with life-style changes, personal, marital, and family problems. Assist with forms completion and maintains a registry of chore service providers

Western Reserve Geriatric Education Center | Case Western Reserve University

Provides educational programming, training, and consultation about gerontology and geriatric issues to faculty, health care professionals and consumers throughout the State of Ohio in order to improve health care for older adults. The Center is a consortium of nationally recognized academic leaders in gerontology and geriatric medicine. In addition to CWRU School of Medicine, the consortium includes Bowling Green State University, Miami University, Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Also makes available training modules/curriculum about a variety of topics related to aging, especially Alzheimer's disease.
