Provides speakers on issues related to caring for older adults. Sessions are approximately one hour, with 30 minutes dedicated to speaker time and 30 minutes for questions. Some commonly requested topics include the following: Demystifying Older Adult Services, Care and Communication of Those Living with Alzheimer's/Dementia, The Importance of Faith in Senior Care, and Adult Day Programs: Supporting In-home Caregivers and Introduction to the Sacred Art of Living and Dying.

Program provides in-home alternatives to nursing home care for low-income seniors. Services include: a personal care plan to meet the individual's needs at home by arranging an appropriate mix of services to supplement care provided by family members and friends. Eligible services include adaptive and assistive equipment, assistance in the home with health activities, such as taking medications appropriately and other health-related activities, with case/care management, adult day care, chore service, home medical equipment and supplies, emergency response systems, home-delivered meals, homemaker services, independent living assistance, minor home modifications, nutrition consultation, personal care services, medical and non-medical transportation. Program also administers the Pre-Admission Review process that determines the level of care for persons who want to enter Medicaid-certified nursing homes and periodically offers vendors training on dealing with elderly/disabled individuals.

Provides assistance with Medicare consultation and insurance information, agency referrals, home visits for Home Delivered Meal client assessment, educational and health-related programs, non-medical home care agency listings, community resource lists and caregiver consultation and education.

Offers information about available support options for older adults and their families and caregivers. Assists individuals in determining eligibility for publicly-funded programs and benefits, and provides information and referral to other programs and benefits as necessary.

Provides information and referral of social services and benefits information to older adults. Will provide assessments in the home for residents when needed. Offers counseling to help seniors cope with life-style changes, personal, marital, and family problems. Assist with forms completion and maintains a registry of chore service providers

Refers individuals with aging-related or disability-related issues to appropriate available services in the community to ensure that individuals' needs are fully met. Helps individuals find help for housing, transportation, in-home care, long term care, and other health and wellness services, including benefits screening.

Provides a directory of services for older adults called "Resource Guide for Older Adults and their Families". Information in the guide includes how to resolve consumer issues, applying for Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, contacting mental health and crisis services, housing options for older adults, engaging legal and financial services, planning for long-term care, lifelong learning programs and more. Can also provide individual brochures and information on organizations that deal with specific aspects and health conditions of aging.

Conducts gerontological research and provides data on older adults to legislators, researchers and the public. Features information affecting those age 50 and older.

Provides a variety of recreational activities and personal enrichment programs for seniors. Activities and programs include, but are not limited to, exercise classes, line dancing, book clubs, pinochle, canasta, bridge and other games, health and safety presentations, trips, luncheons, gardening, and special events. Offers a group called BV 60+ where members plan group activities and outings. Offers computer tutoring sessions where tutors will answer students questions and teach computer skills such as basic skills, E-mail, and the Internet.

On site the Center offers Blood Pressure Checks, legal counseling, and a benefit bank. Social and recreational activities may include social meetings, craft classes, line dancing, cards, trips, yoga and exercise classes. Offers information and referral to governmental and community resources.

Provides outreach to people experiencing mood disorders due to issues related to aging, psychological problems, and other issues affected by the aging process. Services include geriatric assessment, case management, counseling (group and individual), medication monitoring, in-home safety assessments and other services determined by case managers. Services to women include attention to psychiatric issues related to physical stages in their lives.

Provides one-on-one information and assistance to aging adults and individuals with disabilities to help them identify their needs and preferences, and access community resources, benefit programs and other available social, medical and residential services.
