Actively seeking volunteers to be trained by the Sheriffs’ Departments to assist them in finding missing and/or abducted children, including Amber Alert situations. Volunteers also offer community education programs to teach sexual-abuse awareness and prevention, internet safety, general safety issues, uncomfortable touching and so forth. Volunteers also serve at fingerprinting/ID events, as court observers, fundraising, and as Advisory Board and Board of Trustee.

This agency offers free legal services to those with eligible income levels. Senior citizens are served regardless of income. This program can handle all kinds of civil cases, but because of the large number of requests for free legal assistance, not all applicants are served. Everyone who is low income is encouraged to call if they need legal help with a non-criminal matter (government benefits problem, social security, domestic relations, child support, and landlord/tenant problems. Also provides legal assistance to parents regarding education issues.

Volunteer Guardians are appointed by the Probate Court when a person becomes unable to manage his or her own affairs. Volunteer guardians serve indigent senior adults living in long-term care facilities or group homes when they don't have family or friends willing or able to become the legal guardian. Guardians work to assure that their wards are safe and their needs are being met. Volunteer guardians are not live-in or hands-on caregivers and do not provide funds or financial assistance for their wards. Once the initial training is complete, you will make a minimum of one case contact per month, respond to calls about treatment your ward may need, and prepare an annual report to the Probate Court.
This program works with jail inmates and their families. Also developing a new media program called Key Vision that is addressing Drug and Alcohol recovery, Employment and many other needs. Services are funded by contributions, donations and grants.

Trains and assigns court-appointed Guardians Ad Litem (GAL) for children whose parents are being prosecuted for abuse, neglect, or dependency. The GAL represents the child's best interest by performing an investigation and interviews of the child's family members, teachers, doctors, etc., then preparing a report for the Juvenile Court. The GAL will routinely visit the child's home once a month to monitor and assess the living situation.

The clients served have no family or no appropriate family to care for them. Majority of clients are indigent, however if they have assets, a pro bono attorney to be Guardian of Estate is secured.

The Advocates for Families CASA Program is seeking caring adults to volunteer in Knox County. Volunteer duties include making contact with the child once a month; full case investigation reviewing all relevant documents; meet with anyone who has information regarding the child, including but not limited to case workers teachers, medical professionals; maintain written documentation: maintain complete confidentiality; attend all court hearings and meetings; complete annual continued education hours as required by Ohio Supreme Court Rule 48 guidelines. NOTE: CASA supervisor walks alongside each volunteer throughout the life of each case.

Miami County CASA/GAL (Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem) program provides trained volunteers to represent the best interests of abused, neglected and dependent children in juvenile court. The volunteers are responsible for conducting interviews with all interested parties in the case in order to provide a report to the Juvenile Judge or Magistrate, attend meetings at Children Services, attend court hearings, and conduct home visits with the child they are advocating for. Can not provide service to any private custody cases.
