Persons age 18 and over who have been deemed incompetent by the Richland County Probate Court are eligible for guardianship services.
Prior to becoming a Volunteer Guardian, a BCI check is completed, volunteer is given a two hour training with the Director, and is required by the Ohio Supreme Court to attend a six hour training course on the Fundamentals of Guardianship. Once complete, Volunteer Guardian is legally appointed to advocate for the client and see to their medical and placement decisions.

Volunteer-based guardianship program. Provides guardianship, for the 18 and over who have been deemed incompetent by the Local County Probate Court. The clients served have no family or no appropriate family to care for them. Majority of clients are indigent, however if they have assets, a pro bono attorney to be Guardian of Estate is secured.
