Description

Volunteer Guardians are appointed by the Probate Court when a person becomes unable to manage his or her own affairs. Volunteer guardians serve indigent senior adults living in long-term care facilities or group homes when they don't have family or friends willing or able to become the legal guardian. Guardians work to assure that their wards are safe and their needs are being met. Volunteer guardians are not live-in or hands-on caregivers and do not provide funds or financial assistance for their wards. Once the initial training is complete, you will make a minimum of one case contact per month, respond to calls about treatment your ward may need, and prepare an annual report to the Probate Court.
