Trains and assigns court-appointed Guardians Ad Litem (GAL) for children whose parents are being prosecuted for abuse, neglect, or dependency. The GAL represents the child's best interest by performing an investigation and interviews of the child's family members, teachers, doctors, etc., then preparing a report for the Juvenile Court. The GAL will routinely visit the child's home once a month to monitor and assess the living situation.

Eligibility
Must be at least 21 years of age and have no criminal record. Volunteers will be required to attend 30 hours of pre-service training, and 12 hours of continued training. Asks for a 2-year commitment. No special training or degree is necessary.

Hears cases involving the delinquency of persons under eighteen years of age and cases dealing with unruly, abused, neglected, and dependent children. The Juvenile Division also hears all traffic offenses committed by persons under eighteen years of age, and has jurisdiction in adult cases involving paternity, child abuse, nonsupport, and failure to send children to school.
