Responsible for enforcing certain federal laws related to banking, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. Accepts complaints about state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System from bank customers experiencing discriminatory treatment or deceptive actions covered by these laws. If contacted regarding an institution that is not part of the Federal Reserve System, will refer to the proper regulator. Cannot resolve contract disputes or matters that are the subjects of pending lawsuits. The law requires manufacturers to notify buyers of their right to compensation if a vehicle is defective and establishes a consumer’s right to be refunded if the vehicle is not repaired or replaced within a reasonable period. The Fairfield County Department of Health Public will follow up on reports of businesses or other organizations that may be violating an order issued by the local public health department or other officials and are endangering the public and/or their own employees.
