Complaints Concerning Ohio's Lemon Law | Ohio Attorney General's Office

Enforces and takes complaints concerning Ohio's Lemon Law. The Lemon Law requires auto manufacturers to repair or replace a new motor vehicle that has a problem or problems, covered by the warranty, that substantially impair the use, value or safety of the vehicle. The lemon law covers problems that occur within the first year of purchase or the first 18,000 miles of the vehicle, whichever comes first. The law requires manufacturers to notify buyers of their right to compensation if a vehicle is defective and establishes a consumer’s right to be refunded if the vehicle is not repaired or replaced within a reasonable period. Consumers may also look for information about complaints a company may have recieved through the Attorney General's Office as well as information as to how the dispute was resolved. May also search for lawsuits the office has filed against individuals and businesses that violate the state’s consumer laws.

Responsible for enforcing certain federal laws related to banking, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Community Reinvestment Act, and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act. Accepts complaints about state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System from bank customers experiencing discriminatory treatment or deceptive actions covered by these laws. If contacted regarding an institution that is not part of the Federal Reserve System, will refer to the proper regulator.
