Offers information about The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Violators of acceptable collection behaviors may be liable to consumer for $1000-$1500 compensation fees.

Bbb Military Line/Military And Money App | Better Business Bureau Serving Canton Region And Greater West Virginia

Provides free resources to active military personnel in the areas of financial literacy and consumer protection. The five (5) main components of the program are: - Education: Many Local BBBs on and around military installations teach financial readiness classes to service members. - Outreach: BBB staff attend and support community fairs, conferences and other events, speaking with service members and distributing information. - Information: BBB website provides a one-stop shop for articles, links and consumer alerts for each branch of service. The website, Facebook page and X/Twitter have a resources page with consumer guides written for military members. Provides the free app, "Military & Money", which features educational resources and tools to help users make informed decisions about money. - Data Collection: Analyzes BBB data to help identify the threats and needs of the military community in the marketplace. - Complaint and Dispute Resolution: Filing a complaint with BBB helps military consumers resolve disputes and alert the BBB to issues affecting the military community at large.

Consumer Complaints - Submetered Utilities / Landline Telephone Providers | Ohio Consumers' Counsel

Acts as the residential consumer utility advocate. Represents the interests of Ohio households in proceedings before state and federal regulators and the courts. Will give general information and/or answer questions about utility services. Will accept and assist with complaints related to either submetering or basic wire line phone service. Utility sub-metering is a system that allows a landlord, property management firm, condominium association, homeowners association, or other multi-tenant property to bill tenants for individual measured utility usage. The approach makes use of individual water meters, gas meters, or electricity meters. For complaints related to other utility issues not listed above, clients should contact the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO)

Long Term Care Ombudsman | State Of Ohio - Government Offices

The Long-term Care Ombudsman advocates for people receiving home care, assisted living and nursing home care. Paid and volunteer staff work to resolve complaints about services, help people select a provider and offer information about benefits and consumer rights. Ombudsmen do not regulate nursing homes and home health agencies, but do work with providers, residents, their families and other representatives to resolve problems and concerns. In addition, ombudsmen: - Advocate for person-centered approaches by providers to meet the needs and honor the preferences of residents; - Link residents with services or agencies; - Offer resources for selecting long-term care providers; and - Provide information and assistance with benefits and insurance.

Consumer Complaints - Telecommunications | Federal Communications Commission

Accepts complaints on telemarketing issues such as: junk faxes, Do-Not-Call violations, pre-recorded telephone messages, automatic telephone dialing systems, and unsolicited commercial e-mail messages to cell phones, pagers, and other wireless telecommunications devices. Under certain circumstances, the agency may pursue legal action on these cases. Also accepts general complaints from consumers on certain aspects of long distance telephone billing disputes including: land line, wireless, and internet service. Under certain circumstances, agency may provide mediation between consumer and service provider, but will not pursue legal action. Otherwise, will direct caller to the proper agency.

Seeks to decrease the amount of e-mail that consumers receive. Consumers may "opt out" from national email lists by having their email address placed on a delete list that is made available to organizations and businesses. Applies only to members of (or) businesses registered with the DMA, so it does not end all unsolicited email. Consumers may continue to receive email from organizations they choose.

Complaints - Fraud And Misuse Of Public Funds | Ohio Auditor Of State

Accepts reports of fraud, theft, and other incidents of misusing public funds involving elected officials or any public employee in local, county, or state government, and enters them into a centralized statewide incident and investigation management system. Investigates fraud and illegal acts that may affect government resources and assists in the prosecution of subsequent cases. Maintains a public log of fraud reported through the Ohio Fraud Report System. It includes the date of the report, the entity complained of, the nature of the complaint, and the status of the review of the complaint.

Complaints Concerning Ohio'S Lemon Law | Ohio Attorney General'S Office

Enforces and takes complaints concerning Ohio's Lemon Law. The Lemon Law requires auto manufacturers to repair or replace a new motor vehicle that has a problem or problems, covered by the warranty, that substantially impair the use, value or safety of the vehicle. The lemon law covers problems that occur within the first year of purchase or the first 18,000 miles of the vehicle, whichever comes first. The law requires manufacturers to notify buyers of their right to compensation if a vehicle is defective and establishes a consumer’s right to be refunded if the vehicle is not repaired or replaced within a reasonable period. Consumers may also look for information about complaints a company may have recieved through the Attorney General's Office as well as information as to how the dispute was resolved. May also search for lawsuits the office has filed against individuals and businesses that violate the state’s consumer laws.

Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) | United States Department Of Labor

The FMLA entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 workweeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period for specified family and medical reasons, or for any “qualifying exigency” arising out of the fact that a covered military member is on active duty, or has been notified of an impending call or order to active duty, in support of a contingency operation. The FMLA also allows eligible employees to take up to 26 workweeks of job-protected leave in a “single 12-month period” to care for a covered servicemember with a serious injury or illness.
