CONSUMER PROTECTION - COMPLAINTS | CUYAHOGA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS
Provides investigation of all types of consumer scams. Will attempt dispute resolution, including mediation with the parties (consumer and business), including debt collection abuses, home repair companies auto sales and car repairs, store pricing, appliance warranty issues, and other complaints related to specific business interactions with consumers. The agency can/will refer a complaint or a violation to the county prosecutor, Ohio attorney general, Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or other appropriate agencies with jurisdiction over the complaint. May also enforce violations through civil actions.

Phone for information or to make a complaint. Once complaint is explained and recorded, agency assigns an investigator who will work to resolve the issues involved and if needed will report to the appropriate agency. May also download a complaint form and mail it in from web site. Will provide a complaint form by mail to callers who request it.

Covers transactions that occur in Cuyahoga County. Either the consumer or business must have an address in Cuyahoga County. Landlord/tenant dispute resolution: only helps tenants - DO NOT REFER LANDLORDS who are having an issue with a tenant. Have the landlord contact their city's housing court.
