Special Reconnect Order | Leads Community Action Agency

The Winter Reconnect Order issued each year by the Public Utility Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has a new name. It is now the Special Reconnect Order (SRO). The SRO may be used once per utility (electric and natural gas) from Oct 13, 2025 through April 15, 2026 to reconnect or to avoid disconnection of investor-owned, PUCO-regulated utilities. The SRO allows customers to pay only $175, plus up to $36 for a reconnection fee (if applicable), of what they owe. Any remaining balance is put into a payment arrangement. There are no income restrictions, and the Order may also be used to establish or transfer service. If the SRO is used for both electric and natural gas at the same time, the $175 may be split between the two.

Percentage Of Income Payment Plan (PIPP PLUS) | Community Action Wayne/medina

Provides an income-based payment program for eligible gas and electric customers to maintain service. Customers who pay their monthly PIPP Plus payment on time (payment received before next bill is issued) and in full will receive two (2) credits: one (1) forgiving the rest of that monthly bill (incentive credit) and the second forgiving 1/24th of any balance they owed prior to enrolling in PIPP (arrearage credit). If the client makes full, on-time payments for 24 straight months, all of the arrearages will be eliminated. - Missed Payments: Gas customers have one billing cycle (30 days) from their anniversary date to make up any missed payments before being removed from the program. Electric customers may be dropped if they miss two (2) consecutive payments. Any missed (or late) payments will result in the loss of that month's credits (No fees are assessed for late payments). - NOTE: The entire bill balance will become due if dropped from the program. To be re-enrolled the client must make up all missed payments that is owed from the point of removal from PIPP Plus. In addition, must pay the bills for the current monthly service for those months not enrolled in PIPP Plus. Being dropped from the PIPP Plus program is independent of any action the utility company takes to disconnect service. Customers may ask to be removed from the PIPP Plus program at any time.

The Home Energy Assistance Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill or assistance paying for heating or air conditioning repairs. Eligible customers may also receive a portable air conditioner or fan. The program assists low-income households with an older household member (60 years or older), or households that can provide physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member's health. Eligible households can receive up to $300 if they are a customer of a regulated utility, or $500 if they are a customer of unregulated utilities such as electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. The benefit can be a combination of a portable air conditioner, fan and/or utility assistance. Utility assistance is applied to a customer’s utility bill or applied to central air conditioning repair costs.
