Applications accepted January 1st-December 31st while funding is available. Applicants can receive up to $350 once per year. Assistance is applied directly to the electric bill.

Provides financial assistance to reconnect or maintain home heating services for eligible households once per heating season. Generally assists with a payment up to: - $175 for PUCO regulated companies. - $750 for non-PUCO regulated utilities (such as a municipal utility). - $1,200 for those who use bulk fuel (oil, propane, kerosene, or bottled gas). - $650 for coal, wood or solid fuels. - $1,500 in heating unit repairs or replacements. NOTE: Scheduling an appointment automatically places a 1-time hold on disconnection for REGULATED utilities until after the scheduled appointment date (unless a previous hold was placed on the customer's account). The appointment must be at least 48 hours before the scheduled disconnection and the utility account number must have been entered. - Customers are only allowed one (1) disconnection hold for an assistance appointment per Winter Crisis Program (WCP) season. - Rescheduling or missing appointment removes the hold and possibly triggers loss of service.

The HEAP Winter Crisis Program helps income eligible Ohioans that are threatened with disconnection, have been disconnected or have less than a 25 percent supply of bulk fuel in their tank maintain their utility service. The program runs from November 1 until March 31. Ohio households, serviced by a Public Utilities Commission of Ohio-regulated utility, must sign up for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) or another payment plan in order to receive emergency benefits.

Provides partial payments toward utility expenses. Assistance amounts and limitations vary by SVDP Conference.

Makes a payment once per heating season to reconnect or maintain energy costs for households [Up to $175 for PUCO regulated companies, $550 for non-PUCO regulated utilities (such as a municipal utility), $750 for those who use bulk fuel - (propane or bottled gas), or $450 for coal or wood.] On same day as appointment, agency will send utility company a letter of intent to pay, which the utility company must observe as a payment. Actual payment is sent directly to the utility company within 30 days and will be reflected on bill within 60-90 days. Payment can be used to pay reconnection fees or deposits if client cannot get utilities connected at a new residence due to outstanding bills at the previous residence or poor credit. Any PUCO-regulated company customer who has a confirmed utility assistance appointment with a Community Action Agency will have their disconnection suspended for at least 5 days past the date of the appointment. Appointment confirmation will be sent to utility company within 24 hours. PUCO-regulated customers must sign up for PIPP or another payment plan to receive emergency benefits.
