May provide emergency assistance to assist with utility payments for individuals and families within the Canal Winchester School District who are in financial crisis. Human services will provide matching support up to $250.00.

The assistance is applied to their utility bill. Also provides indoor air quality and comfort assistance: Up to $1,500 for central air conditioning repair; up to $300 for air conditioning units; and/ or up to $100 per fan (maximum two (2) fans. NOTE: The electric utility assistance benefit is separate from the additional benefit for central air conditioner repair and receiving a fan or air conditioner unit. Households may receive the full benefit for bill assistance and also receive an additional benefit (such as central air conditioner repair, air conditioner unit, and/or fan) once per cooling season.
Provides eligible Ohioans assistance with monthly heating payments if heating source is disconnected or threatened with disconnection. Provides assistance once per heating season. Program begins around October.

Offers a program that makes monthly payments more affordable on a year-round basis for customers of regulated electric and/or gas service providers. Offers incentive credit and an arrearage credit when PIPP Plus payments are made on-time and in-full: - Incentive Credit: Each time the client pays their required monthly payment on-time and in-full, the client no longer owes the rest of that month's billed amount (otherwise, this amount is added to the client's arrearages). - Arrearage Credit: Provides a 1/24 credit toward any old debt when payments are made on-time and in-full (if the client makes full, on-time payments for 24 straight months, then all of the arrearages will be eliminated).

The Summer Crisis Program is designed to help qualified households pay for summer cooling. SCP is a onetime payment to the electric company for eligible households in the summer. If you are over the age of 60, or have a physician's statement that states you, or a household member, has a medical need for electric and are below 175% of the Federal Income Guidelines you may qualify for the Summer Cooling Crisis program. The Program applies to electric utilities only and is available typically starting July 1st and will operate until all funds are obligated, but no later than August 31st.
Provides short term, temporary assistance in obtaining basic needs. Needs include, but are not limited to, the following: * Food - may be provided 6 times in a 12 month period * Shelter * Utilities * Clothing * Specific medical needs No applicant will be approved for assistance more than 4 times in a 12 month period, with at least 30 days between assistance requests.

The program runs from November 1 until March 31. Ohio households, serviced by a Public Utilities Commission of Ohio-regulated utility, must sign up for the Percentage of Income Payment Plan Plus (PIPP) or another payment plan in order to receive emergency benefits.

Our Family Assistance Division staff embraces the mission of relieving those fears and putting families on the road to self-sufficiency. We determine eligibility for several supports that help families through tough economic times. Program provides assistance to families in overcoming barriers to employment and achieving/maintaining self-sufficiency. Provides limited financial assistance for past due heating fuel, gas and electric. Client also may be eligible if unemployed and/or domestic violence situation exists. Payments are limited to the amount actually required to meet the presenting need (up to $400) per twelve consecutive month period of eligibility.

In most cases, the one-time benefit will be a credit applied to your energy bill by your utility company (or fuel vendor).
