Family Counseling Services married and single couples

Offers outpatient individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Can help clients resolve issues and develop healthy coping skills related to hoarding issues (adults), trauma, anxiety, worry, nervousness, sadness, depression, grief and loss through therapies supported by research (empirically-supported therapies) and/or Cognitive-behavioral therapy. Therapy services are provided by graduate students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at CWRU. All student therapists are closely supervised by licensed psychologists.

The Ohio Gambling Telehealth Network (OGTN) is a system of counseling providers throughout Ohio available to those affected by problem gambling or gambling disorder. OGTN is available to provide counseling through a telehealth platform to those without local access to qualified counselors specifically trained to treat those living with problem gambling concerns or gambling disorder.

Assists with funds to acquire an Ohio State ID or a birth certificate. Birth certificates are only available for individuals born in the State of Ohio.

Provides medical insurance coverage (Medicaid) to low income people, blind, disabled, pregnant or members of families with dependent children. There are many types of Medicaid, including: Medicaid for aged (65 or over), blind, or disabled people, Healthy Start/Healthy Families Medicaid, for income eligible pregnant women, children and families, Nursing Home Medicaid, with special rules for people in nursing homes, Waiver Medicaid, with in-home nursing assistance and other services to elderly or disabled people who would otherwise be in a nursing home.

Provides limited financial assistance to purchase necessary prescription drugs for people who would be in an emergency situation without assistance.

Provides a connection for public education programs, camps speakers bureaus, and professional education.

Accepts donations of new and used building materials and supplies, small and large appliances (seven yrs old or newer), and household, gardening, and work tools and equipment. All items must be in working condition. Will consider salvaging items from homes that are going to be demolished. Donated items are resold.

Offers clerkships for law school students who have completed their second year. Students who possess an Ohio Legal Intern's License are able to prepare and present minor misdemeanor cases while obtaining courtroom experience.

Personal financial management classes offered monthly.

Offers weekly one-to-one mentoring with an adult volunteer mentor during the school year at the school. Mentors work with youth mentees on building critical life skills that will help them to be successful both inside and outside of the school day.

Provides conflict resolution and mediation training to individuals, community organizations, schools and businesses. Training workshops range from 4-40 hours. Professional continuing education credits are available. Customized trainings are available upon request. A 3.5 hour Eviction Prevention Workshop for Professionals is available for helping professionals to learn how to help tenants avoid eviction.

Provides bicycles to individuals. Accepts donations of bicycles and completes any necessary repairs before giving them to individuals.

Provides services to the county overseeing the Highway Maintenance Department.

Assists low to moderate income homeowners with paying for repairs and rehabilitation on their homes. Depending on eligibility and the availability of funding, agency may be able to offer this program at no cost to the homeowner (usually if they are age 65 or older or a veteran). In some instances, a zero-interest loan with an affordable repayment schedule may be offered as well. Examples of the types of work that the program can help with are: painting, siding, roofing, doors, steps, wheelchair ramps, sub floors, carpeting, etc. Does not help with foundation. Most work is provided by volunteers, however some work may be provided by contractors. This is not an emergency service; the process can take 12-24 months (however, smaller jobs may be completed sooner).

Provides home improvement grants to eligible homeowners in the City of Parma. Covers repairs such as roofing, plumbing, and electric. Can also be used to install wheelchair ramps, and in some cases, interior modifications to address accessibility issues. Will not fund concrete work or garage work unless attached to house. Generally, grants will cover half the cost of interior/exterior repairs up to $2,000.

Provides a variety of recreational, educational, and health-related programs, such as arts and crafts, film presentations, reading clubs, and other special events. Programs vary with season and location.
