Provides information on water boiling alerts which are issued to the community in an effort to protect citizens from unsafe drinking water. An alert is issued after positive tests (samples for fecal coliforms, changes in turbidity measurements), or water main breaks. When an alert is issued, information regarding that particular incident will be publicized. In general, when an alert is issued water should be boiled for three minutes and cooled before drinking. Also, water should be let to run out of the tap for about five minutes before using the first time after shut-off.
