Provide senior adults with daily recreational activities, educational events, lunch, socialization, and fitness programs. Supportive services division for Trumbull’s retired and elderly population provides social work and counseling, prescription assistance and Medicaid/Medicare counsel, emergency assistance program, and free income tax assistance through AARP during the months of February through April each year. Utilizes trained volunteers to help older adults and low-income individuals and families complete their tax return forms. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and AARP Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. Most locations also offer free electronic filing.
Beginning February 1, 2025, tax preparation is available for those who are eligible, by appointment only.
Provides an automated income tax refund line to enable taxpayers to determine when they may be able to receive their federal income tax refund.
