The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide credit reporting companies to provide consumers with a free copy of their credit report once every 12 months. A central website and mailing address has been set up by the three nationwide credit reporting companies, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Does not provide legal advice or representation as a private attorney. Cannot handle consumer issues regarding the purchase of used cars, public utilities, doctors, lawyers, insurance, real estate, financial investments, and state agencies. The wage garnishment provisions of the Consumer Credit Protection Act (CCPA) protect employees from discharge by their employers because their wages have been garnished for any one debt, and it limits the amount of an employee's earnings that may be garnished in any one week. CCPA also applies to all employers and individuals who receive earnings for personal services (including wages, salaries, commissions, bonuses and income from a pension or retirement program, but ordinarily not including tips).
