Domestic Violence Shelter located in a five-bedroom home in Athens, Ohio. The location of the shelter is kept confidential, for the safety of our clients and staff. Parents and children stay together in a bedroom and have access to a shared bathroom across the hall. Staff and residents work together to keep our space comfortable, with daily chores shared by all. Residents have ready access to licensed mental health counselors, a case manager, a court advocate, and 24-hour shelter staff. Our case manager and a counselor will work with you to identify personalized goals for your next steps and will provide support and referrals to get you there. We have a wheelchair ramp and an accessible bedroom and bathroom.

Provides a 24 hour hotline, support and safe shelter if needed to assist primary and secondary victims of sexual assault. Also offer on site hospital advocates to meet with the survivors to assist in the initial crisis intervention and to answer any questions of the survivor and family members who may be on site. Gives referrals to other agencies within the community. Provides legal advocates to assist in the trial process, if charges are pressed and assist in the filing of the Victims Compensation forms. Also offer community education, training to new sexual assault volunteer advocates and have speakers available.

Provides crisis intervention and safety planning for people who are in a domestic violence situation. Also provides assessment to determine if emergency shelter is needed for individuals and families who say they are are victims of domestic violence in need of safety and respite due to fleeing an immediately dangerous situation. If no need for immediate shelter is determined, agency refers individuals to agency justice, domestic violence support group and other programming according to their assessment.

Temporary housing for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault in a safe and secure environment. Assists in locating available housing and other forms of assistance in our area. An outside pet shelter is available for small pets. These services are free.
