Individuals with mental illness share their experiences of living with and recovering from mental illness to college and university students, nurses, doctors, social workers, and any other professional group in the community interested in this type of educational insight.

Contingent upon available funding, ACDJFS will resume a senior emergency assistance program for adults aged 60 and older. The maximum allowable amount is $500 per eligible household in a 365- day period beginning with the date of first application. SEA may be approved for any of the following emergent needs:

• Utilities/Deposits:

• May also pay for wood, coal, or propane (with documentation)
• Rent/Deposit/Mortgage
• Provide rental agreement or mortgage statement including landlord/mortgage company name and address

Home repairs:

• Provide 2 estimates
• Medical equipment purchase/rental not covered by Medicaid/Medicare
• Provide bill and/or rental agreement

Furniture

• Household appliances to assist with everyday living
• Cleaning supplies
• Pest control services
• Professional services must be licensed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture
• Any emergency not listed may be eligible for approval by a department.

Community Support Teaming is available to families with youth ages 0–21 who have multi system needs, are at risk of out of home placement, or are transitioning back into the community after such a placement. Through the High-Fidelity Wraparound model, Team Facilitators partner with families to build a family team and strong support network, connect them with community resources, and coordinate services among providers involved in the child’s care. This approach is rooted in strengthening families and enhancing the local social and human services system. By sharing resources, improving coordination, and fostering collaboration across agencies, Community Support Teaming works to ensure that children, youth, and their families receive the comprehensive support they need to thrive.

Includes groups oriented specifically towards specific substances such as heroin, and other activities oriented towards all substance use disorders. Formats include traditional Narcotics Anonymous groups, Christian oriented groups, Atheist/Agnostic group, LGBTQ+ individuals, fitness focused groups, and less structured supportive activities. Also offers groups for families impacted by substance use disorder.

Responsible for preventing, investigating, controlling and extinguishing fires. Activities include fire safety education, firefighting, investigating the causes of suspicious fires, maintaining equipment and trained firefighters necessary for a quick and efficient response to fires when they occur, and enforcing fire codes which protect lives and property from fires and explosions.

Provides safe disposal of needles, syringes or lancets to residents. Residents can dispose these sharps in a locked disposal box. These can have been used for any purpose.
