Health education specialists are specially trained to provide people affected by lupus with non-medical counseling, disease education, information, and helpful resources. As part of the OhioHealth Mothers' Milk Bank, LCHD accepts donations of breast milk. The Milk Bank at LCHD will process donations for safety in order to provide milk for children who cannot get it from mothers. Prospective milk donors have to fill out paperwork with their medical histories, get waivers from their obstetricians and the children’s pediatricians, and get a blood test to ensure they are healthy. Donors cannot smoke tobacco or drink alcohol. Donations are made to OhioHealth Eastside Health Center in Columbus.

Provides time limited, face-to-face individual and group counseling within one of Zepf Center's facilities. The focus is on creating hope and positive change. Therapists work with clients to improve their level of functioning in the home with their families, in their communities and at work. Individual needs are identified, and therapeutic goals are defined that include but are not limited to: assisting clients to improve daily functioning, teaching and implementing positive coping skills for managing mental health symptoms, understanding and healing from traumatic experiences, and developing conflict resolution skills for navigating stress and problems encountered in life.

Provides an 8-week course (2 hours/week) on recovery for individuals with mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining wellness. Participants gain an understanding of issues pertinent to their diagnoses and recovery. The course uses a combination of lectures, interactive exercises and structured group processes. Topics covered include: How to reach and stay in recovery; How to write an advance directive; Information about different diagnoses; How to deal with past and current problems.
