The HeatShare program provides Columbia customers with a one-time assistance grant of up to $450. Customers are only eligible for HeatShare once per year, and the assistance cannot be applied toward security deposits or bills that are not required to maintain service.

The Complex Medical Help Program (CMH) formerly known as the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps, is a health care program in the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). CMH links individuals with special health care needs to a network of quality providers and helps individuals and their families obtain payment for needed services. BCMH links families of children with special health care needs to a network of quality providers and helps families obtain payment for the services their children need. Major components of the program include: conducting quality assurance activities to establish standards of care and to determine unmet needs of children with handicaps and their families; funding services for the diagnosis and treatment of medically eligible conditions; collaborating with public health nurses and local health departments to assist in increasing access to care; supporting service coordination for children with selected diagnoses; and assisting families to access and utilize appropriate sources of payment for services for their child.

Medicaid provides medical insurance coverage to low income people age 65 or over, blind, disabled, pregnant or members of families with dependent children. There are many types of Medicaid, including: Medicaid for aged (65 or over), blind, or disabled people, Healthy Start/Healthy Families Medicaid, for income eligible pregnant women, children and families, Nursing Home Medicaid, with special rules for people in nursing homes, Waiver Medicaid, with in-home nursing assistance and other services to elderly or disabled people who would otherwise be in a nursing home. Medicaid benefits require an annual renewal, which will impact the new enrollees for the first time this year. Medicaid recipients may contact JFS for information on their annual renewal.
