Eligibility
Household income must be at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. NOTE: Some income is deemed excludable such as income earned by dependent minors under 18 years old, child support paid-out, health insurance premiums, and some Medicare costs.

Required documents
Details about documents needed is available by calling the Energy Assistance Appointment Hotline. Documents needed include:
- Proof of income for each household members age 18 years of age or over for the last 30 days. Income includes: Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), Social Security, Pension, Alimony, Wages, Self-employment, Unemployment, and so forth. Any member reporting “no income” must complete a no income form.
- Copies of most recent electric and gas bills.
- A list of all household members, including Social Security numbers and birth dates.
- Proof of United States (U.S.) citizenship/legal residency for all household members. Documents that are accepted to prove U.S. citizenship/legal residency include: Social Security card, birth certificate, U.S. Passport, naturalization paper/certification of citizenship, permanent VISA, or INS ID Card.
- Proof of medical condition if applicable (documentation signed by a licensed physician or registered nurse practitioner).

Appointments scheduling begins at the end of June. Call the 24-hour Energy Assistance Line at 888--368-0203 to see if an appointment can be made and to schedule an appointment.
Fees
No fee to apply.
- If electric utility is in disconnect status and the amount exceeds Summer Crisis Program assistance, a receipt of co-payment is required to complete an application.
- NOTE: Not all applicants will be eligible for the entire $500 to $800 as the actual payment is based upon individual circumstances.

Provides eligible households electric bill assistance, up to $500 if they are a customer of a regulated utility or $800 if they are a customer of an unregulated utility. The assistance is applied to their electric bill.
May also provide indoor air quality and comfort assistance: Potentially up to $1,500 for central air conditioning repair. Residents who have not received an air conditioner from the agency in the last three (3) years can request a unit. Electric box fans will also be distributed. Residents who have received air conditioners in the past three (3) years may be eligible for a fan. Distribution of air conditioners and fans will be subject to availability.
