Offers a course for mothers and partners which covers many topics which are part of the birth process - labor, pain management, normal new baby behavior, new baby care, postpartum depression, etc. Each night offers a component of Lamaze technique to assist the mother. Participants receive a wealth of printed materials. Each five-week class series includes a tour of the birthing center, including a look at the birthing suites and postpartum unit. (even if they will not deliver at Metro). Participants in this course are also eligible to have the assistance of a doula (a skilled woman to assist the mother at the birth).

Programs to help families achieve self-sufficiency. Public Assistance provides eligible applicants with food stamps and Medicaid services, including Long Term Care options. Ohio utilizes the Direction Card to administer food stamp distribution. Eligible families receive an electronic card with a dollar credit equal to the maximum monthly benefits based on family income, family size, and other eligibility criteria. Families/individuals use the Direction card at participating stores. The family/individual is able to add credit to the card each month for basic food items to support the household.
