This expansion of care will help prevent veteran suicide by guaranteeing no cost, world-class care to veterans in times of crisis. It will also increase access to acute suicide care for up to 9 million veterans who are not currently enrolled in VA.

Through this program, low-income, active seniors tutor at-risk youth in area schools and Head Start programs and receive a stipend for their work. Provides an opportunity for persons 55 and older to participate in one-on-one mentoring, tutoring and emotional support to children with special and exceptional needs. Locations for foster grandparents, to improve the lives of children in need, include Head Start centers, preschools, elementary schools, county boards of MRDD and private institutions. Foster grandparents receive monthly training, modest stipends, transportation reimbursements and meals during service.
