This is only available for OHIO EDISON/FIRST ENERGY (Electric), COLUMBIA GAS (Gas) and AQUA WATER (water) bills. We do not assist with any other companies.
The utility MUST be in the name of a resident of the household and that person must be able to come and sign the paperwork unless other arrangements are made. All utilities are a once a year benefit, we cannot assist with more than one in a year. Based on availability of funds.
For COLUMBIA GAS and OHIO EDISON/FIRST ENERGY:
- Must have termination notice
- $150 sincere payment effort within 90 days (client can pay that day to meet this requirement) this money cannot come from another agency
- Cannot be new service - no deposits or reconnect fees
- OHIO EDISON/FIRST ENERGY requires that OHCA be checked first for Ohio Fuel Fund assistance before The Salvation Army funds can be used
- COLUMBIA GAS funds are limited and will only assist as a referral from an agency (seniors/extreme circumstances).
- Must meet income eligibility guidelines (below 200%)
- These funds MUST be the funds of last resort, meaning all amounts over the maximum assistance amount must be paid prior to applying for assistance.
- Must meet income guidelines, call for further information.
