There are many types of Medicaid, including: Medicaid for aged (65 or over), blind, or disabled people, Healthy Start/Healthy Families Medicaid, for income eligible pregnant women, children and families, Nursing Home Medicaid, with special rules for people in nursing homes, Waiver Medicaid, with in-home nursing assistance and other services to elderly or disabled people who would otherwise be in a nursing home. Medicaid benefits require an annual renewal, which will impact the new enrollees for the first time this year. Medicaid recipients may contact JFS for information on their annual renewal.

LIHEAP helps pay the winter heating bills or summer cooling bills of low-income and elderly people. During extreme weather conditions, people living in poverty and low-income elderly should not have to choose between buying fuel to heat or cool their homes and buying food for themselves and their families. Since two-thirds of the families receiving LIHEAP assistance have incomes of less than $8,000 a year, the program clearly helps the people who need help the most.

Afterschool Programs of Lancaster offer a wide variety of activities for school-age children and youth in out-of-school hours.

ExpressCare problems which can be seen include acute sore throat; ear or sinus infections, minor cuts and bumps; cold and flu symptoms, sprains and strains, or skin rashes. Would not see broken bones; major burns or trauma; or acute psychiatric problems.

Provides a ‘one-stop’ shop of services to women throughout pregnancy to meet both their addiction treatment and pregnancy needs. Patients in the MOMS program are seen for the duration of pregnancy though six weeks postpartum at the Maternal Infant Recovery Clinic (MIRC) where they receive prenatal services, medication assisted treatment (MAT) using buprenorphine, and group and individual counseling. Patients then transfer to CompDrug for continued addiction treatment, at minimum, through one year after delivery. Patients are served by partners from multiple organizations in addition to CompDrug including Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Mount Carmel Health System, Ohio Health, Central Ohio Newborn Medicine, Maryhaven, and Amythest.

Provides pregnancy options counseling services from a pro-life perspective that encourages taking the pregnancy to term. A pregnancy test, ultrasound, limited sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, community referrals, and other support are offered as part of the options counseling.

Provides advice and representation concerning denial, reduction, termination, and/or overpayment of county, state, and/or federal public benefits such as OWF (Ohio Works First); Disability Medical Assistance (DMA); Medicaid; Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC); Healthy Start; Food Stamps; Social Security; Medicare; Supplemental Security Income (SSI); and other public benefit programs including Unemployment Compensation benefits.
