Actively seeking individuals who are willing, on a voluntary basis without remuneration, to work in all areas of service delivery, fundraising, leadership and governance. Seeks volunteers for special events include annual Akron's Autism 5K and Walk at Lock 3 in downtown Akron and iCan Bike 5-day bike camp for youth.

The Autism Center provides a clearinghouse of information on research, resources and trends to address the autism challenge. The center offers a source for training, technical assistance, resources, and consultation to build program capacity and individual learning and growth.

Provides legal aid services for assisting individuals on the spectrum with inquiries, counseling, planning, reviews, benefits account setup, and more.

Provides a space to give autistic children opportunities for fun and socialization on the weekends.

Provides behavioral health services and therapies. All methods of treatment and instruction are research and evidence-based. Services offered at Silver Lining ABA: Center-Based Programs/Outpatient Services, Assessment, Diagnostic and Referral Services, Outreach Services, Summer Programs, Adolescent and Adult Services. * Services are certified by the State of Ohio and are nationally accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Silver Lining ABA is a certified mental health agency and an approved registered provider of the Ohio Department of Education’s Autism Scholarship Program.

Provides one-on-one support and education, educational seminars, parent training workshops, specialized information and referral, family events, parent resource library with Boardmaker program, and presentations and training for professionals and groups.

Provides educational programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities as an alternative to traditional education. Also offers home-based programs.

Provides funding for sensory items and various equipment for children with autism.

Provides a federally-funded child development and family support program that provides early education, health, mental health, nutrition, and social services to families with children from birth to age 5 with disabilities (including speech or language delays, physical disabilities, health impairments, autism, and other developmental delays). Partners with local school districts, Help Me Grow, and other service providers to offer speech therapy, mental health services, screening and evaluations, and transportation to and from services. Offers two (2) program options: - Center-based option offers 5-days a week (full-day or half-day) in a classroom setting. - Home-based option offered once a week for an hour and a half in a home setting.

Offers a monthly support group for parents and professionals working with school aged children and a monthly support group for adults affected by Asperger Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Development Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD/NOS) and other spectrum disorders. Other activities offered throughout the year for both groups.

Provides 5-week summer tutoring services with emphasis in math and reading as well as speech therapy. A separate 5-week program covering the same topics is available for students with autism.

Provides limited funding assistance for necessary incidental treatment-related services, programs and equipment not covered by insurance, government agencies or other resources to families residing in Northeast Ohio who have children and/or adults with a life-long disability attributed to developmental and/or intellectual impairments. Funds expenses such as respite care, therapies, therapeutic camps, some medical expenses, assistive/adaptive equipment, and communicative devices. NOTE: Does not provide financial assistance for rent, other living expenses, or any modifications done to home, property, or vehicles.

Provides family grants, education and community outreach and family friendly activities including our annual 5K Run/Walk for Autism Awareness and Autism Friendly Holiday Party.

Offers a water safety program in conjunction with the Akron Area YMCA. Provides one-on-one instruction for water safety geared to participants with developmental delays. Prioritizes learning safety over swimming techniques. Sessions are held in a classroom setting and in the pool.

Offers opportunities for education and support, as well as family activities and grants. Information can be obtained via subscription to an email list, social media and website.

Provides information and resources for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities, their families, and the community.

Provides monthly educational webinars to raise awareness, understanding, and acceptance of autism. Professionals and parent panels explore topics that are relevant to parents, professionals, and individuals living with autism spectrum disorder.

A Parent Café is a parent-led, peer support format where caregivers come together to share experiences, learn from each other, and build stronger family resilience.

Caring Santa provides a calm and welcoming environment for children with special needs and their families to visit Santa. Special Elves from the Autism Society of Greater Akron will be on hand to greet participants when they arrive and to provide crafts and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Light refreshments will be served.

Provides education, resources and support for people with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities as well as their families.

Offers children with autism the opportunity to attend a special education program other than the one operated in their public school district in order to receive the services outlined in their individualized education program (IEP). Can also be used to pay for other services that are agreed upon by the provider and the parent of the eligible child that are not listed in the IEP but are associated with educating the child.

Provides two kits designed to introduce safety around moving vehicles in parking lots and to intervene in wandering behavior typical of autistic children. Kit usually includes door and window alarms, an ID bracelet, visual stop signs and a guide on what to do about wandering behavior. Parking lot safety kit includes parent/caregiver safety guide and vehicle magnet to remind children how to be safe in parking lots.

Offers a variety of counseling and support services for children diagnosed with Autism and their families. Services include individual counseling, family counseling and social skills development.

Provides information about the symptoms, screening/diagnostic procedures, and methods of treatment or management for Autism.

Our program consists of two classrooms offering instructional options, from one-to-one intensive instruction to large group instruction and learning activities with typical peers.
