Head Start / Early Head Start Disability Services | Community Action Akron Summit
Provides a federally-funded child development and family support program that provides early education, health, mental health, nutrition, and social services to families with children from birth to age 5 with disabilities (including speech or language delays, physical disabilities, health impairments, autism, and other developmental delays). Partners with local school districts, Help Me Grow, and other service providers to offer speech therapy, mental health services, screening and evaluations, and transportation to and from services. Offers two (2) program options: - Center-based option offers 5-days a week (full-day or half-day) in a classroom setting. - Home-based option offered once a week for an hour and a half in a home setting.

Application process
Referral to the program by one of the following methods: - Referral to the Special Needs Consultant from a Head Start/Early Head Start teacher (for children already enrolled in Head Start). - Referral to the Special Needs Consultant from an outside agency (Help Me Grow, local school district, private preschool provider and so forth).

No fee.
Eligibility
Must have a referral. Once a referral is made, the Special Needs Consultant coordinates additional evaluations to determine a child's eligibility for services.
