Homestead Exemption | Portage County Auditor

Offers a tax reduction program which provides Portage County homeowners with relief on a portion of their home value. With homestead, eligible homeowners receive an exemption on a portion of appraised value from taxation for a single family home. Eligible military Veterans receive an additional exemption. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction.

Respite Care-Uss Caring Services | United Senior Services

Respite Care is provided by USS paid staff to offer occasional relief for caregivers who have full time care of an older adult. Caregiver may leave premises or simply remain at the home but pursue other activities.

Partners with the City of Akron to provide critical home repairs including roofing, electrical, furnace, plumbing, gutters, porch, steps, and disability access. No funds are provided to the homeowner in cash as reimbursement for repairs already completed.

Senior Box Program | Oberlin Community Services

Provides a supplemental pre-backed box of food to qualifying Lorain County seniors on a monthly basis. Boxes include shelf-stable milk, starches, cans of vegetables and beans, cheese, and a five (5) pound bag of produce. Pickup available at Oberlin Community Services. Limited delivery also available depending on location.
