Provides financial assistance for minor home repair projects to low-income seniors and individuals who are permanently physically disabled. Eligible work may include, but not be limited to: electrical (replace fuse or light bulb, repair/replace a switch, repair/replace frayed cords/plugs, etc.); plumbing (repair/replace toilets and sinks, leaking faucets, drain and supply lines, vent pipes and sump pumps, etc.); masonry (repair sidewalks, porch floor and steps; apply waterproofing compound to basement walls; minor tuck-pointing, etc.); carpentry/maintenance (repair doors, jambs, frames, hinges, window frames, kitchen cabinets, decking, floors, porches, holes in walls; install glass; install smoke detectors; install deadbolt locks; etc.); and heating and air conditioning (repair/replace furnace and air conditioner).

Assists clients in taking care of their pets, while maintaining independence. The program provides pet food and assists with the financial cost of vet visits.

Provides system of care for Franklin County older adults to assist them in remaining independent. Provides information, advocacy and case management. Will link older adults to resources such as homemaker services, personal care, caregiver relief, emergency response systems, home delivered meals, medical transportation, adult day services and minor home repair.

Offers a free specialized exercise and nutrition program for older adults. Provides low-intensity, medically based exercise classes focusing on cardio, strength, and flexibility. Offers monthly talks on the latest topics in nutrition and fitness from a registered dietitian and fitness expert. Offers access to low-cost health screenings.

Offers tuition free courses on a noncredit, space available basis for Ohio residents ages 60 and older. Most course offerings are available; however, there are a few exceptions including ESL, piano, medical school classes, law school classes, MBA and extended education classes.

Provides certified counseling to help with Medicare issues and drug plan open enrollment. Helps older adults access services, benefits, and other programs. Provides assessment of needs and makes referrals to appropriate agencies. Advocates to resolve problems older adults may encounter with governmental and social service agencies.

Information and referral for services assisting older adults, including programs available through national, state, and local resources.

Offers a tax reduction program which provides Lorain County homeowners with relief on a portion of their home value. With homestead, eligible homeowners receive an exemption on a portion of appraised value from taxation for a single family home. Eligible military Veterans receive an additional exemption. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction.

Prepares and delivers hot meals to people age 60 and over who are unable to provide adequate meals for themselves.

Offers privately owned rental housing that is made available to low-income older adults age 62 years and over and individuals age 18 and over with a disability at reduced rates based on a contract between HUD and the property owner.

Offers a reduction related to income on real estate taxes on residences.

Affordable housing units for individuals 62 and older. Units are offered at a low rate to allow comfortable, safe living for tenants who are on a fixed income.

Personal visits are made to the person in the home, hospital, or nursing home. To provide regular communication concerning the person's welfare.

Provides a food pantry for individuals and families in need.

Offers bi-monthly newsletter and bi-monthly calendar of events which keeps senior citizens of Preble County informed of Council on Aging activities, programs, and services. Also publishes other information of interest to senior citizens.

Provides comprehensive psychiatric services for people ages 55+. Goal of the program is to restore the patients to life's normal activities as soon as possible. Program addresses both the medical and psychosocial aspects of mental health problems unique to the senior community. According to each patient's individual needs the program can be either inpatient or outpatient.

Provides information about, and assistance with, applying for community resources available to older adults. Maintains a library that includes pamphlets and booklets on a wide range of topics. One-on-one assistance available to help with signing up for Medicare, Medicare Part D, and supplemental insurance.

In home services provide older adults. Offers their caregivers the necessary support needed to live at home in a clean, safe environment. By providing help with house cleaning, errands, laundry, personal hygiene, respite and other caregiver services.

Offers a free to-go meal to older adults residing in Medina County.

Assists older with navigating concerns such as housing assistance, financial management, mail interpretation, and communication in order to provide a safety net that supports aging in place. Helps older adults and individuals with disabilities file for public benefits. Benefits screened for include Medicare premiums, food stamp assistance (SNAP), Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP), Veteran services and benefits, Golden Buckeye, Medicare drug costs, low-cost housing, Ohio Best RX, Safe-Link phone and more.
