Offers free tax preparation assistance and electronic filing for low- to moderate-income households. Specially trained volunteers from the AARP prepare basic returns to assist older adults.

Provides hot, nutritionally balanced meals and an opportunity to socialize with others. Offers meals on-site at some locations, and to-go at others.

Offers a tax reduction program which provides Portage County homeowners with relief on a portion of their home value. With homestead, eligible homeowners receive an exemption on a portion of appraised value from taxation for a single family home. Eligible military Veterans receive an additional exemption. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction.

Offers a comprehensive phone and web-based service to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources. Includes more than 2,500 public and private benefits programs that may be able to assist with prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other needs.

Offers general health evaluations and examinations. Services included screening tests, nutrition education, counseling and health and fitness education.

Seven-story independent living apartment homes feature 69 one-bedroom units and 17 two-bedroom units. Each unit includes a living room, bedroom(s), kitchen, bathroom and closet space. Pet-friendly building allowing cats and dogs (some restrictions may apply). Service coordination, for things like transportation, meal delivery or scheduling of appointments, is available to all residents

Provides psychiatric treatment for older adults experiencing complications with memory loss, depression and medical management issues. Services include psychiatric services, medical monitoring, dietary consultations, music and art therapy, and recreational activities.

Provides senior ID discount cards.

Provides older adults $50 to be used across the state for fresh locally-grown produce and herbs at area farmers markets and roadside stands. Participants have the choice to use a mobile application or a physical card.

Provides fire department and EMS ambulance transport. Will come out and check homes for carbon monoxide gas. Does not provide detectors, but will install a homeowner's unit free of charge. Administers the Senior Citizen Smoke Detector Program, installing a free, new smoke detector for seniors age 62 and older. Will also return to replace batteries and make sure all detectors are working. Non-emergency activities include fire safety demonstrations and fire code inspections of public buildings. Also provides green reflective house number signs, free of charge, to all Springfield Township/Ontario residents.

Program is designed to provide consistent support and encouragement for people who are isolated and need assistance of staff and volunteers to socialize with peers and to offer respite for their caregivers. A network of support is offered to those with mobility issues or cognitive challenges with the goal of supporting independence. Referrals are accepted through the local healthcare systems, family or self referrals.

Provides case management support to area seniors through the following: * Home visitation * General advocacy and support * Service coordination for the following: Connection to medical and social service supports, transportation, social engagement, and housing issues.

Provides low-income older adults with a $50 benefit with which to purchase eligibile, locally grown produce at participating farmer's markets and roadside stands. Eligible food items include fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and honey. * Federally funded program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Services Agency, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Aging.

Door to door transportation is available by van to medical appointments and essential errands for Clark County residents age 60 and better. Appointments fill quickly. Donations are gratefully accepted, participation will not be denied for inability to pay.

Prepares and delivers hot meals to people age 60 and over who are unable to provide adequate meals for themselves.

Provides a supplemental pre-backed box of food to qualifying Lorain County seniors on a monthly basis. Boxes include shelf-stable milk, starches, cans of vegetables and beans, cheese, and a five (5) pound bag of produce. Pickup available at Oberlin Community Services. Limited delivery also available depending on location.

Provides volunteer opportunities for older adults.

Serves owner-occupied, single-family houses. Takes applications year-round for home repair services provided by volunteers, professional contractors and staff. Typical repairs include adding handrails to stairways, repairing and replacing dangerous steps, fixing electrical wiring, repairing plumbing fixtures, installing grab bars, cleaning gutters and other handyman services. May also include Americans with Disabilities Act compliance, carpentry, installing appliances, installing and replacing doors, roof repair, exterior painting, flooring/tiling, trash removal, windows and other yard work.

OSHIP certified volunteer and staff counselors assist people with enrollment for Medicare Part D, Rx plans, and offers comparisons for supplemental policies and Advantage plans. Notary is also available.

Offers older adults programming including group exercise classes and aquatic programs that concentrate on mobility and flexibility, dance programs, educational programs, social events, day and overnight trips and volunteer activities.
