Raises awareness of psychiatric and mental health disorders affecting the elderly. Focuses on public education targeted to the health care consumer and family caregiver about mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment.

Refers individuals with aging and/or disability related issues to appropriate available services in the community to ensure that individuals' needs are fully met. Helps individuals find help for housing, transportation, in-home care, long-term care and other health and wellness services. Offers an internet-based, counselor assisted program that helps older adults and individuals with disabilities file for public benefits. Includes Healthy Start and Healthy Families, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), child care subsidies, food stamps, voter registration and more. Provides benefit navigation, assistance with Social Security and Medicaid applications, and Social Security benefit analysis.

County Probate Court. Responsible for duties regarding estates, guardianships, marriage licenses, adoptions, changes of name, and mental health matters.

Offers prepared meals delivered to participants daily.

Provides nonemergency door-to-door transportation within Lorain County for older adults who require routine medical services and who are unable to use other available means of transportation. Possible destinations include medical, dental, and vision appointments and hospitals or centers for tests or other regular treatment. Provides door through door assistance and can accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices.

Provides informational guides about financial decisions that affect retirement, whether early stages of retirement planning or looking for ways to grow retirement savings.

Provides fire department and EMS ambulance transport. Will come out and check homes for carbon monoxide gas. Does not provide detectors, but will install a homeowner's unit free of charge. Administers the Senior Citizen Smoke Detector Program, installing a free, new smoke detector for seniors age 62 and older. Will also return to replace batteries and make sure all detectors are working. Non-emergency activities include fire safety demonstrations and fire code inspections of public buildings. Also provides green reflective house number signs, free of charge, to all Springfield Township/Ontario residents.

Offers privately owned rental housing that is made available to low-income older adults at reduced rates. Provides 50 1-bedroom units.

Provides home health care, personal care, and homemaking services.

Offers a 27-page booklet listing over 60 community organizations that provide services to older adults in Summit County. Provides in the booklet information on health services, senior community centers, activities, prescription medication programs, home improvements, safety, and so forth.

USS Caring Services offers the Bill Paying and Rep Payee Programs to Clark County older adults who either physically and/or cognitively have difficulty managing their monthly income. Bills are paid on time, check books are balanced and bank statements are reconciled through trained staff and volunteers.

Provides eligible older adults with financial assistance to help them obtain goods and services that they cannot otherwise afford. Assistance is capped at $150 person / $200 per household and generally covers expenses such as new personal emergency response systems, auto repairs, or recreational activities (trips with grandchildren, movies, day trips with senior groups). - Grant cannot be used for rent, untilities, prescriptions or food. -

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federally funded program for people who are 60+ years of age and whose household income is 130% or less of the federal poverty guidelines. Each month we provide a 40 lb. box of nutritious food to over 1,300 seniors throughout Clark, Champaign and Logan Counties.
