Provides an emergency room for those needing immediate medical and/or mental health services. Enrolled veterans can go to non-Veterans Affairs (VA) emergency rooms in cases where the VA facility is not feasibly available at the time of emergency.

- Provides specialized emergency psychiatric care that includes an immediate evaluation and crisis stabilization. Provides inpatient and outpatient services throughout the Ohio region for patients with psychiatric disorders and their families. Inpatient care is often recommended when the emotional, psychological and behavioral problems have reached a crisis and the patient needs a safe environment to stabilize. As the crisis is addressed, the team assesses the need for follow-up outpatient care and puts a plan in place to support the patient’s continued recovery. Services include medication management, group therapy and activities, ECT, further consultation, and education. A psychiatric assessment and evaluation is available to patients receiving care at OhioHealth Emergency Departments.

Behavioral Health Emergency Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through the emergency departments of our hospitals. They include mental health and addiction evaluations, crisis intervention, resource identification and referral. An emergency room physician provides a medical examination first to rule out any medical concerns. He or she then refers you or your loved ones to the psychiatric social worker for an assessment. Once needs are assessed, the best, most appropriate services are recommended.
