Provides individualized volunteer placement for eligible youth who want to develop job skills, explore possible future careers, gain self-confidence, and provide a valuable service to the agency of placement. Placements include libraries, museums, hospitals, animal shelters, restaurants, and grooming salons. Group Volunteer Experiences projects are designed to give members a positive connection to the community and allow them to feel like community heroes. Program may include annual trips to do volunteer activities with other organizations in the United States and internationally.

The YMCA offers exciting opportunities for teens, ages 13-16, to experience summer fun and develop leadership skills through LIT summer programs. LITs have an opportunity to begin friendships for the summer while getting the training they need to be successful as volunteers helping our day camp. LIT campers work as a group to explore and enhance their leadership skills, self-confidence, self-esteem while learning the importance of responsibility. LITs participate in team building activities, receive American Red Cross certification in First Aid and CPR.
Offers youth the opportunity to participate in activities that work toward empowering African-Americans and eliminating racial and other forms of discrimination. Participants take part in monthly voter registration drives and may participate in state, regional, and national conventions. Offers incentives to youth to stay in school.

Offers a substance abuse prevention and leadership program for teens. Participants form groups and then learn about and provide substance abuse information to the community. Will assist schools with starting a group.

Denison promotes and supports local community service by engaging the community in five areas: - Denison Community Association — Our student-led and operated umbrella organization for student service committees. - America Reads — Our program for Federal Work Study students to provide tutoring services to area elementary schools. - Curricular Service-Learning — Denison courses which include structured service work as part of the text of the course. - Denison Service Orientation (DSO) — The Center partners with First Year Programs to provide a service orientation opportunity in Washington, DC and Newark, OH each year. - Community Service Interns — Our program for Federal Work Study students that places students with a local community non-profit organization to assist with on-going or new projects as needed by the organization.
Provides an after school learning lab with computers, reading materials, and tutors. Overall focus is on literacy. Includes: service learning, college and career exploration, health and wellness, social skills and self-esteem, recreation trips, among other services. Also offers a competitive summer arts program where girls work with professional artist/teachers in several areas of the arts including: music and poetry composition, creative writing, dance, acting, or graphic design. Girls write music and lyrics, choreograph, perform, and record a CD of their work. Live performance at end of summer.

As a liaison between Kenyon students and the Knox County community of social services, this program offers students a chance to volunteer and become directly involved in the community in which they live. The program's aims are to facilitate the integration of students' academic interests or career possibilities with the work of the agencies through observation, small-scale research projects, and volunteer work.
The Pillowcase Project is our signature youth preparedness program and is implemented in every Red Cross region. The Pillowcase Project is for children in grades 3-5 and teaches them about personal and family preparedness for local hazards and home fires.

MHA's YES Clubhouse is located at 100 East Church Street in Newark.

As part of our Discovery Play program, families can drop-in to utilize our community space for fun and learning together. Includes climbing and tunnels for large motor fun in all weather, a touchless and interactive floor projector, an augmented reality sandbox and high powered microscope, educational exhibits, rotating STEM-focused table top activities, sensory experiences, access to toys/tech/tools for featured activities, pop-up demonstrations by staff, etc. Target ages are 3-11, but younger and older siblings and their accompanying adults enjoy the space as well. Current public hours are Thursdays 9-noon, 1 to 4pm, and 5-8pm. And Fridays and Saturdays 9-noon and 1 to 4 pm. Low daily admission fee, financial accessibly pricing for EBT card holders, camp and membership scholarships widely available. In June and July, we offer half-day summer camps, with income-based scholarships. These are for school agers who have completed kindergarten though fifth grade. Opportunities for high school volunteers to assist with camps.
