Offers a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 200,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet the country’s critical needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve with nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based and community organizations.
Serves as a liaison between charitable, education, health care and non-profit organizations in Columbiana County and residents age 55 and older who wish to volunteer. Participants are matched with agencies based on their skills, interests and geographic location. Telefriend provides peer telephone reassurance calls.

Foster Grandparent Program
Provides AmeriCorps members an opportunity to provide community service in Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) schools as tutors, mentors and role models. Goal is to keep Cleveland students in school and on track to graduate. Participants receive a bi-weekly stipend, and at the end of their service receive scholarship funds which can be used only for higher education.
Provides volunteers 55 and over opportunities to serve and help others. Programs include the Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Companion Program, and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) program.

Foster Grandparent Program
Senior Companion Program places an able adult (55+) with an older or disabled adult living in their home or apartment who could use someone to help with day to day activities. These may include errands, light housework, small meal preparation, or simply companionship. As a SCP volunteer you must be income eligible to participate. You will receive a small hourly stipend, mileage reimbursement, supplemental accident insurance, and paid time off. You must serve between 15-40 hours a week, summit to a background check, and a physical assessment. As a SCP client there are no financial barriers, just the need for companionship. A compatible SCP volunteer will be placed with the client once the needs are determined.

Seeks volunteers to work with children in the Toledo area, mainly Toledo Public Schools. Volunteers serve between 15-30 hours a week in school settings, helping with goals and objectives set by teacher. Volunteers receive a small stipend for hours worked and mileage. Training and monthly in-service is provided to volunteers.

Foster Grandparent Program
Foster Grandparent is an on-going, dual-beneficiary program with a two-fold objective: 1) To help children be prepared for and do better in school and 2) to give low-income seniors an opportunity to supplement their incomes, combat isolation, and have a purposeful way to contribute to the community. Through this program, low-income, active seniors tutor at-risk youth in area schools and Head Start programs and receive a stipend for their work. Provides an opportunity for persons 55 and older to participate in one-on-one mentoring, tutoring and emotional support to children with special and exceptional needs. Locations for foster grandparents, to improve the lives of children in need, include Head Start centers, preschools, elementary schools, county boards of MRDD and private institutions. Foster grandparents receive monthly training, modest stipends, transportation reimbursements and meals during service.
The Foster Grandparents Program is an AmeriCorps Senior Program that places older adults in schools and early childhood centers to support youth through mentoring and tutoring. Foster grandparents receive a modest stipend, paid training, mileage reimbursement, personal paid time, and supplemental insurance.
Provides part-time opportunities for older adults to serve as mentors and tutors for children in Head Start programs. Foster grandparents receive a tax-free monetary stipend for their work, bus passes for service days, and free meals on service days.

A place-based poverty alleviation project that works with residents in a 110 block area in the Lincoln Elementary School attendance zone in Springfield, Ohio. Promise builds a coalition to support families and education using an asset-based model, resident leadership, and leveraging of local and state funding.

Pairs volunteer companions with older adults. Companions provide non-medical services such as socialization and assistance with daily activities, like buying groceries, preparing meals, and cleaning.
AmeriCorps members age 17 and older work with community-based organizations through direct service to help meet critical needs in education, healthy futures, veterans/military families, environmental stewardship, disaster preparedness/response and economic opportunity.
Foster Grandparent Program has been providing meaningful volunteer services opportunities to men and women age 55 years and older working with both children and youth who are in need. Volunteers are placed in a variety of settings such as schools, Head Start Programs, daycare centers, MR-DD programs, juvenile justice facilities, hospitals and libraries. Every day in the communities we serve, COAD Foster Grandparent Volunteers are the people children in need depend on for love, wisdom and support. Foster Grandparents help children develop the skills, confidence and strength to succeed in life. Foster Grandparents make their neighborhoods and communities stronger by helping children with special and exceptional needs achieve their goals. Volunteers receive a stipend for their service.
The Senior Companion Program provides a volunteer opportunity for low-income individuals age 55 and older to serve one-on-one with individuals age 60+ who could benefit from their companionship. They assist with things such as grocery shopping and transportation to medical appointments. They may do activities such as reminisce, play cards and/or go for walks together. Senior Companions also provide short periods of relief to primary caregivers. Volunteers are paid a stipend and mileage reimbursement.
