  • Free transportation to medical appointments - LCHD has partnered with Uber to help women get a free ride

Stark County Health Department

Provides a health education program that helps clients find needed prenatal and infant care services, including Medicaid and WIC. Provides home visits by trained community health workers to the pregnant clients who are registered. Works with pregnant clients and follows their progress throughout the pregnancy and until the new mother's infants reach their 1st birthday.
  • Safe sleep education, breast feeding support, car seat safety, and the Cribs for Kids program are also implemented in clients' homes. The goal of the program is to reduce infant deaths and low birth weights through outreach and health education.
  • Incentives for pregnant women/mothers include infant carriers for completion of prenatal appointments, gift cards for completing postpartum checkups, and educational/developmental toys for completing well baby appointments. Other incentives include bus passes and books.
