NEWBORN HOME VISITING PROGRAM | RICHLAND PUBLIC HEALTH
Provides free public nurse home visits for all Richland County new or soon-to-be new moms and their newborn babies. Goal is to provide education and support geared toward creating healthy pregnancies and positive birth outcomes. Provides help with; growth questions, feeding questions, emotions, helpful tips, new roles, community information, sibling rivalry, development questions, and safe sleep education.

Application process
Go to www.richlandhealth.org, print off a Free Nurse Home Visit Form, complete the form, and mail it in to Richland Public Health.

Eligibility
Pregnant women in the third trimester and their newborn baby up to eight weeks old. The prenatal visit is a one-time visit in the third trimester (but more if identified at high risk) and the newborn home visit is a one-time visit, both with a registered nurse, and is available until the infant is eight weeks old or eight weeks from discharge from the hospital. Also make follow-up visits if the infant is identified at high risk as well. Families may qualify for a free cribette (pack-and-play). To qualify, a person must meet the following criteria: * Must be pregnant or have a child younger than one year and weighing less than 30 pounds. * Must be a Richland County resident. * Must have a Medicaid card and sign a waiver form. * Limited to one per family unless there is a second qualifying child, as in the case with twins.
