Provides information on water boiling alerts which are issued to the community in an effort to protect citizens from unsafe drinking water. An alert is issued after positive tests (samples for fecal coliforms, changes in turbidity measurements), or water main breaks. When an alert is issued, information regarding that particular incident will be publicized. In general, when an alert is issued water should be boiled for three minutes and cooled before drinking. Also, water should be let to run out of the tap for about five minutes before using the first time after shut-off.

West Nile Virus causes mild, flu-like symptoms in healthy people and serious inflammations of the brain and spinal cord in people who are elderly or who have compromised immune systems. Rabies is an infectious disease transmitted by animal bite to humans that can result in paralysis and death if not treated. Hotline staff can provide information on symptoms, control, and other issues related to both diseases.
