Accepts and, where possible, attempts to resolve complaints regarding improper, unethical, or illegal practices in the provision of subsidized housing. Types of complaints accepted include concerns of poor maintenance, dangers to health and safety, mismanagement, and fraud.

Fair Housing Services are offered to residents of the City of Lima, Allen County, and Mercer County.
Provides equal opportunities in housing by working to eliminate discriminatory housing practices towards the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and is designed to ensure greater compliance to local fair housing laws in the City of Akron. Investigates discrimination complaints and advises individuals on how to handle problems with housing discrimination due to sexual orientation or gender identity.

Provides assistance to individuals with hoarding issues who have concerns of housing discrimination. Conducts investigations of the practices and policies of housing providers and other housing related entities. Provides information on the Ohio Tenant-Landlord laws.

Provides assistance with tenant-landlord problems at the county's public housing estates. Works to strengthen relationships between residents and management. Negotiates with the county's public housing authority to resolve housing problems such as eviction, billing, repairs and sanitary conditions. Links tenants with social service providers in the community.

Accepts complaints and answers questions about public housing and Section 8 and assists persons in finding affordable housing.
Provides the following legal services for low-income clients with housing issues: Eviction defense and enforcement of tenants' rights; Protection of public housing subsidies; Home ownership, foreclosure, and access to housing; and other issues related to housing rights, including utility shut-offs, predatory lending, and the rights of tenants with disabilities.

Provides service to file complaints and investigate rental housing that violates health safety standards. Includes complaints about mold, water/plumbing leaks, water supply and heating isses.
Processes complaints and advises how to handle problems regarding housing discrimination. Offers information and help on the nine protected classes in the state of Ohio including race, ancestry, military status, color, religion, sex, national origin, familial status, and disability. Provides advocacy for tenants with disabilities in cases where the landlord is required by law to address accessibility issues (such as the installation of grab bars, ramps, and in cases where an assistance/therapy animal is needed). Contacts the landlord to inform them of their responsibilities (if needed).

Assists residents with housing issues through the following: * Fair Housing Project - Operates the Fair Housing Hotline in Trumbull County (call HelpLine to connect) and makes referrals to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. Educates public officials, landlords, realtors, government, social service agencies, and the general public about fair housing laws. * Homeownership Project - Assists homeowners facing foreclosure with improving their financial situation and asserting rights in foreclosure proceedings. * Neighborhood Law Project - Promotes economic development in historically disadvantaged neighborhoods. Provides legal advocacy and supports grassroots efforts focused on social justice and racial equity. * Tenant Assistance Project - Assists low-income renters with maintaining their home, improving living conditions, and asserting rights in eviction proceedings. Also provides advocacy around right-to-counsel in eviction cases and sealing of past eviction cases.

Oversees the administration and enforcement of fair housing laws which prohibits the discrimination of individuals based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, family status, or disability when buying or renting a home. Accepts and investigates complaints of housing discrimination.
Investigates consumer complaints about any property insured or managed by the agency, including poor maintenance, dangers to health and safety, and concerns about mismanagement. Investigates fraud, waste, or abuse involving agency funds, and handles general questions regarding agency rental programs and procedures, including Housing Choice (Section 8) Vouchers. Refers callers to appropriate departments for complaint resolution depending on their issue.
