HEAP (non-emergency) provides heating bill assistance to households that have not received any disconnection notice. Provides electric bill payment assistance to qualified households that have persons 60 and over or those with medical conditions that require electric service. Households that have a disconnect notice, have been shut off, have a PIPP Default, or are trying to establish new service on their electric bill are also eligible for assistance. The maximum amount for bill payment assistance is $500 for regulated utilities and $800 for unregulated (usually government provided such as the City of Columbus). Also provides window air conditioners and fans to qualifying individuals. Also can pay up to $500 to repair central a/c units of homeowners as long as there is no outstanding payment on the electric bill. Must be repaired by a state certified vendor.
