Assists consumers in cases where an immediate change in residential setting is needed, where it is necessary to deal with law enforcement, or where there is alleged abuse or neglect of the consumer. Provides information and referral for all services. Monitors residential and day programs, does complaint resolution, and acts for advocacy and protection of client rights. This office also monitors Board compliance with legal regulations, oversees its accreditation, and evaluates its services in terms of goals and outcomes.

Offers workshops that are designed to implement creative approaches when working with special needs clients. Techniques used and taught may include guided imagery, music/dance/art therapy, writing, movement, and more. Topics vary.

Provides customized disability awareness presentations for schools, community/service groups, churches, and businesses. Uses a variety of instructional materials including disability dolls, literature, videos, and hands-on activities that simulate disabilities. Also offers interactive and educational Kids on the Block puppet shows to 3rd grade classes.

Assists persons with a developmental disability (DD) with service and support in order to reside in the community or with their families. Provides access to all applicable services and coordinated multi-services for citizens with DD, including educational, vocational, community, and residential services.

Provides a personal advocate for each youth who spends an average of 15 hours per week assisting the youth in educational, vocational employment and/or recreational programs; offers a positive adult role model. This program's services are offered for youth in their own homes as well as youth placed in agency's foster homes.

Offers information on various programs and services around the state for persons with developmental disabilities. Provides funding and monitoring of these services around the state.
