Woman2woman Mentoring Connection | Jordan Community Resource Center

Provides a structured mentoring program. Mentees are matched according to their skills and interests with women in the professional community who serve as mentors. Mentors and mentees meet once a week to discuss specific topics such as resume building, life skills, job guidance, self-esteem, interpersonal communication, and goal setting. Participants also attend workshops centered on these topics.

Provides confidential counseling with a mental health professional for victims of domestic violence. Offers counseling for children who have witnessed or experienced some type of abuse or violence. Provides family therapy and parent education focused on helping the household to recover from past abuse, violence, or other traumatic events. Seeks also to prevent abuse within families who may be at risk due to a variety of stressors including: large family size, teenage single parenting, financial problems, drug problems, special needs children, etc. Teaches how to deal with child and parent anger issues, to handle conflicts and manage stress, to recognize cues from children and address their needs, to administer reward and punishment, and to build better communication among family members.

Provides advocates who will accompany victims to the courts. Advocates can assist in filing for state Crime Victims Compensation Funds, can provide information about local criminal justice procedures, and may refer to local counselors, civil attorneys and clergy. Offers 24-hour line where callers may talk about their situation.

Domestic Violence - Advocacy | Euclid City Of - Department Of Parks And Recreation

Contacts domestic violence victims within 24 hours of referral. If the victim is willing to pursue court action, will accompany and transport them to the prosecutor and to court. Provides a packet of domestic violence information to the victim, and encourages them to participate in a support group and/or counseling. Informs victims of the State Victims of Crimes program, and will assist them in filling out the necessary forms.

Prevention, Retention And Contingency (PRC) - Disaster / Fire Victims | Cuyahoga County Job And Family Services

Provides aid to families in the form of a voucher to buy items or pay for emergency services related to establishing a household after the family has suffered a disaster. MAY BE USED FOR: rent payment and/or security deposit ($750 maximum), stoves and refrigerators (maximum $200); baby furniture; children's beds/mattresses (maximum $250), and children's clothing (up to $150 per child); replacement of adult clothing due to fire or flood (up to $225); general furniture (couch, table, etc. - up to $400). MAY NOT BE USED FOR: entertainment furniture (such as a TV or a radio), washers or dryers (unless it is essential for an applicant's employment or needed due to a disability), mortgage payments. YEARLY CASH LIMITS: $1,500 total during the calendar year (may be $750 for certain non-custodial parents).

Domestic Violence Services - Crisis Intervention, Safety Planning, Shelter | Journey Center For Safety And Healing

Provides crisis intervention and safety planning for people who are in (or have experienced) a domestic violence situation. Also provides screening to determine if emergency shelter is needed for individuals and families who say they are are victims of domestic violence in need of safety and respite due to fleeing a domestic violence relationship or situation. If no need for immediate shelter is determined, agency refers individuals to their justice system advocates, domestic violence support group and other programming according to their assessment.

Give Back A Smile | American Academy Of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation

Provides a network of volunteer cosmetic dentists who restore the damaged teeth of domestic violence survivors who received injuries from a former intimate partner or spouse. Repair is provided to the "smile zone" only (generally, the front teeth), however, a limited amount of work may be done for teeth outside of the smile zone in some cases. Program does not replace or fix dental work. In other words, dental work that does not fit, looks bad, no longer works, an implant that was started but not completed or any work that has been completed by a GBAS dentist in the past.

Provides customer assistance with securing and maintaining electric power, billing concerns, utility issues related to health concerns, payment arrangements and other necessary services. Provides basic consumer education regarding electricity and its use. Offers information that will help consumers make price comparisons between suppliers and provides list of suppliers. Also provides a phone number to report power outages in event of storms and other events exterior to an individual home. Every few years will come out to properties and assess if a tree needs to be trimmed due to it interfering with power lines (can also call to request service if tree branches are interfering with power lines).
