Library And Services Regarding Deafness | Heights Libraries

Provides a variety of services designed to serve the Deaf and hard of hearing communities and to build understanding of Deaf culture. Services include a video relay phone that allows customers to communicate directly with one another or through an interpreter, a library of materials about deafness and issues of interest to this community. Programs include classes in American Sign Language basics, films celebrating Deaf culture, and regular opportunities to socialize and discuss Deafness and hard of hearing issues. Provides a website that lists events of interest to this community.

Provide emotional and practical support for those dealing with opioid addiction. Services include referral to treatment to clinicians providing medicine based assistance (MAT) along with psychological treatment geared to opioid use disorder. Maintenance support such as transportation to treatment, opportunities for deaf to deaf support. facilitate services through OOD to provide employment, education for the deaf community to help them recognize the dangers of opioids and seek assistance.

DeafEND is a Deaf and Hard of Hearing program focused on teaching children how to live a substance free healthy life. DeafEND provides in school substance abuse prevention education to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. DeafEND runs a free summer camp every year for Kids of Deaf Adults (KODA). DeafEND provides leadership and healthy living education to teenage adolescents who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing to promote their overall wellbeing.

Clark County Deaf Community Project | Deaf Community Resource Center

Provides services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Clark and surrounding counties. Services include: assistance to deaf individuals who need help understanding and managing tasks that require English, such as bills, letters and phone calls, working with bureaucratic entities such as HUD and OJS, and appointments (e.g. with a doctor); basic adult education groups to improve daily living skills such as managing money, health equity, navigating transportation, and making effective use of technology; vocational assistance to those who would like help finding employment; social events to communicate with one another prevent isolation; and workshops open to deaf and hard of hearing and family and friends on issues of importance to the deaf community.

Early Intervention Hearing Services | Family Child Learning Center

Provides an early intervention program for infants and toddlers with hearing loss and their families. Services provided virtually (via cell phone, tablet or computer). If the family doesn't have a computer, the center will work with the county's Early Intervention team to bring what is needed to the home. Helps families: - Navigate a new diagnosis of hearing loss and working together to identifying strengths to help communication skills. - Understand their child's hearing loss and new hearing technology. - Learn strategies to keep hearing aids and cochlear implants on little ears. - Learn ways to support their child in developing communication skills and ways to encourage their child to be aware and understand sounds, gestures, or sign language. - Learn how to use daily routines to be the best hearing experience. - Collaborate with other therapies and programs. - Transition to preschool.
