Camp Ho Mita Koda - Residential Camp | Camp Ho Mita Koda

Provides summer residential camp programs for youths who have Type 1 Diabetes. Camp participants engage in fun and educational activities. Different camps are offered such as: traditional sleep-way camp, family camp (where the whole family participates), leadership training, and Buddy Camp (where the child can bring a friend or family member with them). shorter weekend-long camps for teens are also offered. Along with traditional camping activities, Camp Ho Mita Koda provides teaching moments to help build a foundation for proper diabetes management in a closely monitored and safe environment. Develops a personal plan beast suits each individual camper. Camp is supported and works in conjunction with many pharmaceutical companies and hospital systems and are able to provide many supplies for campers while they attend camp.

Healthy U - Chronic Disease And Diabetic Self Management Classes | Ohio District 5 Area Agency On Aging

Healthy U Chronic disease and Diabetes Class is a small group workshop that is designed to help older adults put life back in their life. Healthy U may be for you if you have long term challenges with chronic disease or diabetes or are a caregiver for someone with this challenge. A benefit of participating in Healthy U is the support you will receive finding practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and depression. This 'free' class, which meets once a week for 6 weeks, will help you discover ways to be more physically active, find out how to eat healthier and practice ways to relax and deal with stress. Each workshop is facilitated by a pair of leaders, one or both of whom are non-health professionals with a chronic disease themselves.
