Perry County CERT is a group of trained individuals that are prepared to respond to both natural and man-made disasters. CERT educates the community about disaster preparedness CERT is a 20 hour course designed to teach citizens how to take care of themselves and their neighbors for 72 hours (3 days). Teaches basic first aid, fire suppression, search and rescue, and preparedness. With this course, citizens can be part of the County Team to help people after disasters and assist emergency responders.

The primary mission of the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is to save lives and protect property in the event of a man-made or natural disaster. The secondary mission of the EMA is to restore public services and to expedite the recovery and rehabilitation of individuals in the event of large-scale disasters. These objectives are met by conducting coordinated operations throughout the four phases of emergency management: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
