Provides safe potable drinking water to the public by treating raw water and managing and maintaining the water distribution system. Through a contract with Republic Services, provides sanitation and recycling services.

Provides for the collection and safe disposal of "sharps" including syringes, needles with attached tubing, lancets, and other materials that have been used by individuals with serious health conditions such as diabetes who manage their care at home.

Provides medication disposal pouches for clients to dispose of unused prescription medications.

Provides maintenance of water delivery lines, as well as storm water and sanitary sewers.

Accept old, expired, used prescription and over the counter medications. Does not accept needles, syringes, liquids or inhalers.

Provides waste collection, pick-up of large items such as appliances, and recycling services by contract for the Village of Gates Mills. Will pick-up dead animals from public property.

Take-Back Days: These occur twice a year and locations are offered in Caldwell and surrounding communities. Secure drug collection receptacles have been placed in the main lobbies of Ontario Hospital, Bucyrus Hospital, Galion Hospital, and inside the east entrance of Ontario South Campus, next to the Walk-In Clinic and Pharmacy. Items accepted include prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and veterinary medications. Liquid medications must be sealed in containers. DOES NOT accept needles, inhalers, or hazardous materials.

Licking County library offers free Deterra Drug Deactivation System bags. Available at all Licking County Library locations.

Accepts household hazardous wastes including oil based paints, solvents, stains, shellacs, sealers and coatings, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, household cleaners, automotive fluids, aerosol cans, and cooking oil. Also accepts alkaline (single use) and rechargeable (NiCad, Li-Ion and Ni-MH) batteries. No longer accepts latex paints and electronics. Provides basic emergency sewer maintenance for the Village of Mayfield. For cases of basement flooding, agency will direct caller to the appropriate resource who handles blockages in storm lines (for example, street sewers) or sanitary lines (for example, sewers from the curb to the house).

Provides sanitary sewer service (collection and treatment) within Richland County Sewer District. For all sewer billing questions please call 419-774-5519. For after hours emergencies please call the sheriff's department dispatch at 419-524-2412. For persons in the Madison area (portions of Jackson, Jefferson, Madison, Mifflin, and Washington Townships) that need to have water service connected, please call 419-774-5519. They know about all the water service providers in that area. They can refer you to the right one. They will also set-up an account for your sewer at that number. The Richland County Wastewater Treatment plant only bills for the sewer and you have to contact the correct company to set-up an account for your water.

Maintains and operates the sewer system and provides sewer service to Akron and parts of Summit County.

Promotes participation in recycling.
