The Salvation Army of Mount Vernon is offering an eight week summer day camp program for children who have just completed kindergarten through children who have just completed 5th grade. This program is during the summer months. Please call for current registration dates as well as start times and fees. Registration is on a first come first serve basis.

Camp Wyandot is an overnight camp that focuses on small group living and group decision making grounded in Camp Fire traditions. With their counselor the children develop their own schedule for the week including activities such as boating, creeking, hiking, swimming, crafts, singing, storytelling, fishing, cookouts and games. In addition, there is one overnight in each session. Older campers learn advanced skills such as making fire-by-friction, building primitive shelters, multiple overnights, and archery.

Provides free clothing to the needy. Six-week summer camp program for ages 4-13. Monthly food give-away on Thursday after the third Sunday.

For more than 50 years, the Central Ohio Diabetes Association has offered Camp Hamwi, a unique and exceptional summer camp experience for youths with diabetes. Campers learn to take control of their diabetes management while participating in exciting traditional summer camp activities. Diabetes education topics include nutrition and carbohydrate counting, insulin therapy, and blood glucose monitoring. Camp staff include cabin counselors, social workers, nurses, dietitians, and physicians. Many staffers have diabetes themselves, and former campers can seek training to become part of the Camp Hamwi team. While Camp Hamwi serves youths ages 7-17, children as young as 3 can participate in diabetes day camps. CODA’s summer youth camps allow children and families to connect with a community of support, part of a lifelong path to living well while navigating the challenges of diabetes.
