Offers interactive workshops on various topics, including disability awareness, compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and disability awareness for health care professionals. Workshops can also be customized. Provides accessibility evaluations of facilities and programs to ensure compliance with the ADA. Offers training on how to handle TTY calls promptly and effectively.

American Disabilities Act (ADA) Contract and Consulting Starting January 2020: Offers training and technical assistance throughout Ohio on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Assists with ADA surveys, provides assessments and will help with the development and implementation of transition/compliance plans.
Local chapter members learn leadership skills and electoral practices by electing officers of the group. Monthly meetings are focused on topics related to disability advocacy and building self-advocacy skills. There are also monthly volunteering opportunities and regular social events to offer further connection to our community.

Provides an interactive training designed to educate and provide useful resources to businesses or organizations looking to gain a better understanding about disability. Onsite or at The Ability Center.

A.P.P.L.E. Allen County Board of Developemental Disabilities offers a disabilty awareness program called A.P.P.L.E. This program is provided in various settings, such as school classrooms, community businesses, social groups, churches and other types of places. Presentations are available for all age groups and custom designed for the group. Presentations range from 15 minutes to 1 hour. A variety of tools are used in the presentation, including videos, models with disabilities, literature and hands-on activities to demonstrate having a disability. The goal of the program is to teach the concept that people are more alike than different, and to encourage people to accept others' differences in all places. Kids on the Block This fun, interactive program utilizes Kids on the Block puppets to educate elementary students abouts disabilities. The puppets perform upbeat and levely skits demonstrating what it is like to be a child with a disability. This gives students a better understanding of disabilities, and hopefully, leads to a greater acceptance of peers with special needs. At the end of each program, students can ask questions and interact directly with the puppets. Each performances can be scheduled in a day.
Helps to facilitate the inclusion of children with special needs into child care programs, day care homes, and schools. Services focus on the inclusion of children with disabilities and include helping families find child care and preschool programs, workshops, information and referral, as well as training and on-site consultation for teachers/professionals.
