SPOT takes spay/neuter efforts seriously. Unintentional, uncontrolled pet breeding is the root of the explosion of unwanted pet problems. So SPOT gives financial aid to several households per week to get a pet spayed or neutered. Also, SPOT sponsors the RASCAL Unit and the Columbus Dog Connection low-cost Spay-Neuter Clinics to come to Morgan County about ten times a year. Through SPOT, about 25-50 spays or neuters per month are made possible for Morgan County pets. About 3,400 pets have been fixed since our start in 2009. SPOT also promotes responsible pet ownership at the county fair, in the annual Mutt Strutt, and in our outreach program in the local schools. SPOT is very active working with the community to help pet owners having difficulty keeping the animals they already have in their homes. We provide free dog and cat food and assist with shelters, crates, and other pet needs for our responsible neighbors who have their pets spayed or neutered.
Spays and neuters are performed often in our hospital. This is an essential part of keeping your pet healthier and more attentive to your commands, as well as, preventing the pet overpopulation problem. When spayed or neutered, pets are less likely to roam away.
Provides volunteer training and opportunities for adults in the areas: fund-raising, pet socialize, dog and/or cat foster, special events, dog trainer, pet facilitated therapy worker, vet check worker, display worker, telephone counselor, office assistant, and dog and cat kenneler.
