Community Environmental Health promotes and protects the health and safety of residents through preventative health programs: investigates animal bites; inspects jails; inspects RV Parks & Campgrounds; provides mosquito control and education; enforces housing maintenance and occupancy codes; licenses and inspects public swimming pools; licenses and inspects tattoo and body piercing establishments; provides education on diseases and health issues related to ticks. (Residents living in the Cities of Columbus and Worthington are served by Columbus Public Health.)

Large variety of new & used items. Accept donations of clothing, children’s toys, furniture, household appliances, tools, musical instruments, antiques, collectibles, books, and decorative items. All proceeds from the Menagerie support the operation and mission of the Animal Welfare League.

Provides a shelter for lost, stray cats, and owner surrender of dogs as well as animal adoption. Provides information and referral. Also provides education on humane treatment of animals and investigates curelty and neglect complaints.

Can provide wild animal assistance, injured or sick. Handles domestic animal complaints as well as the enforcement of City animal ordinances. Mobile clinic Providing low-cost spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. Will also accept community/feral cats in traps for TNR.

Provides emergency information on a 24-hour basis for pet owners who may need to take immediate corrective action to treat an animal who has been poisoned or to prevent such an occurrence. NOTE: There is a fee for this service.

Provides a temporary shelter for stray, unwanted and abused animals. Collaborates with city and county authorities to enforce animal laws.

Provides animal control, animal lost and found assistance, and animal poison information (in cases where the client suspects that someone is putting out poison for their pet). Will investigate complaints of cruelty to animals, and attempt to rescue domestic animals. Maintains an animal kennel which houses stray domestic animals for a short period. Does not trap healthy wild animals, but will respond to reports of sick or injured animals or if a wild animal has entered a living space.

Provides animal services for the City of Brook Park. Includes pickup of stray animals, who are held at least 3 days, more if there is space. Animals are given necessary medical care when possible, and are eventually offered for adoption if not reclaimed. Cats not reclaimed or adopted go to the APL; dogs go to the County kennel. Provides information on poisons dangerous to animals. Rescues animals in Brook Park who are in danger, and investigates incidences of animal cruelty. Does limited humane trapping - resident requests trap, and Animal Control sets and clears it.

Visits senior centers and nursing homes to allow older adults to interact with gentle pets.
