One must live in Washington or Morgan County and be certified by a WIC staff member as needing supplemental food due to a health or nutritional risk. Current income standards must be met and individuals must return to WIC clinic for regular health checkups. Eligible participants receive nutrition education, breastfeeding education & support, referral for health care, immunization screening and referral, and supplemental foods such as cereal, eggs, milk, whole-grain food, fruits & vegetables, infant formula. Morgan County residents that are pregnant or breast-feeding, infants up to 1 year of age and children up to age 5 years.
There are a variety of items available at no cost through the Health Department. Families do have to be eligible and there is a limit to how much they can receive, but if anyone is in need of the following items, they can ask for the WIC department for more information. - Safety gates - High chairs - Pack-n-plays - Safety locks for cabinets, etc. - Outlet covers - Mesh guard rail covers - Door knob locks - Lights.

WIC
WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that provides breastfeeding and lactation support, milk, eggs, whole grains (such as bread, rice, tortillas), beans, juices, cereals, peanut butter, baby foods and vouchers for fruit and vegetables at no cost to eligible participants. Cheese and canned fish are available to women who are fully breastfeeding.

Nutrition education program for women, infants, and children. In addition to nutrition education, participants in the program receive monthly food benefits that include foods that help support growth and development (milk, eggs, beans, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and peanut butter). Nutrition education provided through the WIC program is focused on meeting nutritional needs during pregnancy and until age 5. Common topics covered in WIC appointments include: healthy recipe ideas, cooking basics, family meal time, the roles of vitamins and minerals, and the recommended portions for certain age groups. Our WIC program also provides breastfeeding education and helps link program participants to medical care and community resources. Women who are pregnant or who have recently had a baby, infants, and children under age 5 are eligible for the program if they receive a form of Ohio Medicaid, or if their household income is less than 185% of the poverty level.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a short-term intervention health and nutrition program. WIC provides supplemental nutritious foods such as milk, eggs, fruits & vegetables, cereal, juice, peanut butter, beans, whole grain items, and infant foods including formula. Exclusively breastfeeding mothers also receive fish and cheese. WIC also provides specialized nutrition education, breastfeeding support, screenings, and referrals to other health and human services providers.
