Determines eligibility and processes applications for the Ohio Works First (OWF) program, also known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Individuals must spend 20-35 hours per week working, in school, or volunteering. Individuals may also work with Community Link to remove barriers to work. Families are eligible for the program for up to 36 months.
Ohio Works First (OWF) provides temporary support to families while parents work their way toward becoming self-sufficient. Benefits are issued on an electronic benefits card (the Ohio EPPICard) or by direct deposit into the recipient's bank account.

Provides financial, Medicaid and Social Service benefits to eligible Trumbull County residents who meet the guidelines established by State and Federal regulations. All services are based on available funding and include, but are not limited to: SNAP/Food Assistance; TANF Cash Assistance; Healthchek/Pregnancy Related Services; Medicaid; Child Care; Limited Transportation Services; Child Support Services; Adult Protective Services; Prevention, Retention & Contingency (PRC) program services (i.e., utility shut-off aid; job retention/gas cards, transportation etc.); WIOA/OhioMeansJobs Workforce Development Services; Employment and Training Services for unemployed/underemployed individuals, etc. Also assists with referrals to other agencies that may be of service to Trumbull County Residents.

Ohio Works First temporary cash assistance (OWF), formerly called Aid to Family and Dependent Children, is a monthly cash grant for families with children or relatives caring for children. The cash grant amount is based on the number of people in your family and your family's income. If you qualify, OWF will help you get job training, find employment and receive some benefits as long as you are working toward independently supporting yourself and your family. It is important to note that OWF cash benefits are limited to thirty-six (36) months in a lifetime and do not have to be consecutive. OWF is a temporary tool to help you become independent.
Work activities provide services to program recipients to assist them in working toward self-sufficiency through employment, training, and education. Financial assistance to families with children. Time limited programs in which assistance may be received up to 36 months before ending.
