Tanf Applications (KENTUCKY TRANSITIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - KTAP) | Kentucky Department For Community Based Services - Northern Bluegrass Region

Provides temporary financial assistance for families with or expecting children. Also offers job preparation, work opportunities, and access to supportive services such as child care and transportation through the Kentucky Works program to eligible participants. Families who apply for KTAP will also be screened for the Family Assistance Short Term (FAST) program which offers one-time financial assistance with a verified, non-recurrent short-term need.

Application process

Applications may be submitted online, by phone, in person, or by mailing, faxing, or hand-delivering a completed application to the DCBS office in your county of residence.

Eligibility

Medicaid eligibility is based on household income. The following groups are eligible:

,Applicants must:
  • be a resident of Kentucky and a US citizen or qualified immigrant
  • have no or low income. Current limits may be viewed online
  • be unemployed or underemployed
  • be a parent or relative caretaker responsible for children up to age 18
  • have not already exhausted their lifetime limit for KTAP benefits (60 months/5 years in a lifetime)
