Provides influenza vaccine according to the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), flu shots will be available when the vaccine arrives (usually in September of each year). Flu shots are given in the clinic on a daily basis Mon-Fri. FluMist is available to Muskingum County children ages 2 through 18. It is available to out of county residents for a fee. The flu shot will be billed to certain Medicare and Medicaid plans, with which we participate. Otherwise, if you cannot afford the fee, we recommend you please take advantage of the services of a local pharmacy for your vaccination, as they participate with almost all providers. Special arrangements can be made by business and industry for on-site flu shots; providing enough of your staff are interested and requested time is available. We also provide Pneumonia, Shingles, Tetanus/Diptheria/Acellular Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccines on a daily basis. No doctor's order is required. There is a nominal fee for each of these vaccines. Please call for more information.

Provide Pack N Play portable cribs and Safe Sleep Survival Kits to families and caregivers that are unable to provide a safe sleep environment due to financial hardship. Survival Kit contains a sheet for the Pack N Play, a sleep sack for the infant, a bedtime storybook and educational materials for the parents. Family must come to Board of Health office to pick up Pack N Play and receive instruction on proper assembly and use before taking Pack N Play home.

Provides adult and child immunizations

Children entering kindergarten should have a series of vaccinations, including those for pertussis (whooping cough), measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chickenpox), among others. Those entering seventh grade should have a meningococcal vaccine and a TDaP booster, and those entering 12th grade should have a meningococcal booster. These required shots as well as adult immunizations can be administered at the health department.

Miami County Public Health (MCPH) offers vaccines through our immunization clinic for infants, children, and teens. The MCPH immunization clinic accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance.
