Provides leadership and services that enable Ohioans to conserve, protect, and enhance soil, water, and land resources.

Helps plan and create conservation easements to protect natural areas such as streams, wetlands, wildlife habitat, open space, or scenery. Conservation easements are voluntary legal agreements between landowners and the SWCD that place permanent restrictions on development and use of the land. The landowner maintains ownership of the property, along with the right to use the land, but not in ways that infringe on the conservation easement agreement. Property may be sold, leased, donated, or bequeathed, however the easement remains. Easements are generally associated with Federal, State, and/or Property tax incentives for the landowner based on the difference between the appraised land value with and without the easement.

Offers various natural areas and reserves, many of which are open to the public. Nature Center is home to live animals and environmental displays. Providers of environmental awareness programs, as well as educational programs and public events for Greene County residents of all ages.

Inspects and monitors drainage and sediment regulations on construction sites in Cuyahoga County in order to prevent pollution from storm water runoff and soil erosion. Offers technical assistance to developers, land owners, and municipalities in order to ensure compliance with state and federal permits such as: road layouts, stream, and wetlands protection, proper stream crossings, slope stability, natural resource inventory, and suggested site layout. Provides Watershed Coordinators who work in specific watershed areas to evaluate problems and then implement action plans to improve the watershed by working with all stakeholders of the watershed area. Emergency or accessibility home repairs. Focus on structural and accessibility repairs such as, roofs, gutters, windows, HVAC, electrical, handicap accessibility ramps and bathroom installations. Currently have a wait list, must call for eligibility and to be placed on the wait list.

Building Department is responsible for maintaining and tracking permits issued for all new construction, alterations, additions, repairs and demolitions, along with inspecting all building projects to assure compliance with the Ohio Building Code.
