Provides legal advocacy to ensure the humane care, treatment, habilitation and protection of persons with developmental disabilities. Serves people in Ohio communities and developmental centers, and students with developmental disabilities receiving special education in private or public schools or other settings.

Examples of discrimination include denial or delay of services by a health care or social services provider. Does not take complaints concerning other federal agencies such as Veterans Affairs (VA).

Accepts, investigates, and mediates complaints of unlawful discrimination in housing, employment, city contracts, and public accommodations based on age, ancestry, color, creed, disability, familial status, gender identity or expression, martial status, military status, national origin, race (includes hair texture/style), religion, sex, sexual orientation, or sour of income (related to real estate transactions).

Provides legal assistance which may include information, advice, or representation as well as online resources to help with the following issues: *Medicaid or Medicare *Managed care plan issues *Long-term care facilities/nursing home *Hospital Care Assurance Plan (HCAP) *Medical debt lawsuits *Enforce rights as disabled person to participate in state and federal programs

Enforces state laws about discrimination. Accepts and investigates complaints of discrimination in employment, public accommodations, housing, credit and higher education on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, ancestry or familial status. Offers mediation services for discimination cases.
